I do not know this story, only the barest details of Beren and Luthien, so I don't know who is speaking, but you portray his anguish so well. I like this character and the way his love for Luthien is expressed in his regret and desire to help her, even if it means denying his own happiness. It is very early, and I have not yet put the kettle on for tea. I hope this review made sense! Author Reply: Thank you for your review! Daeorn was the minstel in Doriath, Luthien's kingdom. It was he who told her father, Thingol, of her romance with Beren. Thingol then sent Beren away to find the Silmaril and locked Luthien in a treehouse. (That's the best word that I can use to describe it.) Daeron then visited Luthien, feeling horribly guilty, but she forgave him. He was the only one that she would let up in her tower. After she escaped from Doriath, Daeron, full of despair, left Doriath and spent his days alone, composing a lament for Luthien, his lost beloved. | |
