| Ah ha! Needless to say, I will latch onto anything with hope in it. Perhaps Fana and the Houses for Edoras??? She seems quite able to be helpful - as she does with her family. Well - what a great task indeed! I find it a little odd that Thengel did not bring home the idea of the written word for the people of the Mark. After all, while he was in Minas Tirith, he would have certainly spent some time with books... I'm glad that Eomer is making up for that lack! Great chapter. Author Reply: Aragorn says in The Two Towers, when he comes to Rohan with Legolas and Gimli, that the Rohirrim don't write books, but sing many songs. So I've taken that quite literally to mean that they are a strictly oral culture. I've assumed that they used writing only for administrative tasks. | |

| Oh, that dream and then the awakening (I liked the tense shift!) was so well-done--and so sad! The idea of the Houses of Healing was great, and I hope it will help! And I'd love to have the task of copying out that history! *drools* Looking forward to see what you have in store next! Author Reply: Thanks. I usually write dream sequences in the present tense, I think it gives that feeling of immediacy and slight disorientation that a dreamer has. As you can imagine, this chapter is the turning point, but he'll still have a long way to go. | |

| Oh, I liked this very much! Although I was frustrated by his inability to see that Fana loves HIM and not just his body. *wry grin* The mental image of the chaos in Eowyn's chamber as she packed was quite amusing. I enjoyed her conversation with Deoric about the Houses of Healing and it was good to see Eomer talk to him about it as well. The Book of Kings is wonderful! What a fantastic task to be set; one that, upon completion, will show him that he is more than just his missing leg. Eomer speaks of taking advice from those more wise than he, but I think this shows his wisdom very clearly. Well done! I look forward to more. :) Author Reply: Oh, thank you. I'm glad you found that little scene amusing. I've been having a hard time adding some touches of humour to this otherwise very solemn story, but here was a scene that lend itself to it. As for Eomer, I think somebody gave him a little pointer. After all, he has other things on his mind than his scribe's emotional well-being. ;-) | |

| *sigh* Poor Fana! and Poor Deoric! But I am quite sure you will eventually clear up their misunderstanding...I hope... A very interesting conversation between Eowyn and Deoric, and even more with Eomer later. It will be fun to see what comes of that idea--an HoH in Rohan? Well, why not?
