The words meshed together perfectly. It was nice to read a fic about Erendis and Aldarion in their happier days... Thanks for writing. Author Reply: It's nice to know they HAD happier days--once, at least! Thank you so.

I don't know this bit, but the imagery is lovely, and now I see what you're doing with the elements, very clever. Author Reply: The tale of Erendis and Aldarion is in "Unfinished Tales," and is a tragic one. An excellent character study of a disfunctional family. He was one of the kings of Numenor, and their daughter followed him, finding herself poorly suited to the role of ruler of the island nation after her mother came to resent her husband's love of sailing.

Well, that was quite a welcome for Aldarion! Even for such an adventurer this sort of welcome must have been very enticing and a reason to return soon. Author Reply: Oh, yes, it was one he deserved and that I'm glad at the time she wished to give him. Unfortunately she came to see the sea and his ships as rivals for his affection and grew bitter. Too bad, really. Thanks so for the comments!

I kinda feel sorry for this woman who had to contend with a mistresss - the sea - for her husband's heart. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: I know. She could have realized he was a man doing what he was designed by the Creator to do, but never gave up her vision of the sea as a rival, and so lost her peace of mind with him, dooming their daughter to have torn feelings as a result. Yay, Aldarion and Erendis!! A nice sweet look at the earlier days of their relationship. If only it could have worked out... Author Reply: It might have worked out if Erendis could have accepted second place to her husband's love of sailing! Heh! She was rather self-centered!

A Touching glimpse of life in Numenor Author Reply: If only these two could have remained this much in love and anticipation of one another throughout their life together instead of Erendis becoming the bitter, petty thing she eventually did.

A beautiful image. Author Reply: Oh, I'm so glad you like it, GW. It was interesting to find someone new to depict this time!

And so the Mariner's wife has waited through all the ages. Author Reply: And that is so true, Harrowcat! Thanks!

Whew, I can see this challenge is really going to be a challenge! Add a new word every day--pretty soon the prompts are going to take up a quarter of the drabble! Author Reply: Tell me about it! I'm already doing drabble and a half here--I suspect it will be rather longer by the time I get to 24 objects!

You are doing better and better at these! I love the hopeful imagery you show here, of the eager wife awaiting the arrival of her husband. She's trying to make it as romantic as possible. Author Reply: He tells us that at the beginning, before she grew so miffed at being ignored, Erendis loved her husband deeply. And I do think she'd do her best to make things romantic. As Crown Princess she has access to things such as the court musicians--with the moon overhead, I think at least on occasion she'd take advantage of things to try to set the stage! Heh! Thanks so, Dreamflower.
