Lovely, sweet story - thank you for sharing! Author Reply: Hello cathleen, I'm so pleased you enjoyed 'A Mother's Love', it was fun to write Aragorn's encounter with Rose's mothering comfort. He certainly needs a maternal figure to turn to at times, as do we all. M ;)

Very sweet. It's nice to imagine that Rose, and not just Sam, was imbued with insight and compassion - and that she might have comforted Aragorn. I love the glimpses of Gamgee family life that we see in Tolkien's epilogues. Author Reply: Hello cookifleck, thanks for your lovely words. I tend to think of the Gamgees as sensibility, compassion, love and loyalty personified. Someone as good as Sam could not have fallen in love with a lady unless she showed that she was compassionate and seneitive, and their time as a married couple only enhanced these gifts in each other. Oh to be a Gamgee child with such parents! Aragorn is a very lucky man indeed... M ;)

Know that one day, she’ll be able to tell you herself that you made her whole again, and that both your parents are proud of their little lad. Beautifully written! Rosie is the perfect mother. Not only her hobbit children, but also her "newly adopted" son Strider can be happy indeed to have her :) Thank you! Author Reply: Hello again Andrea, Oh I'm so happy you read this too! It's wonderful to have such loyal readers. SoA is the best! Rosie's a 'child-magnet', I think. She draws anyone to her who needs a spot of maternal comfort and she gives it out selflessly. What a woman! Thanks for reviewing again, Maureen :o)

This is lovely. I can just imagine Rose as Aragorn's second mum. Author Reply: Hello harrowcat, thank you so much for dropping by for a read and a review. I'm thrilled you enjoyed it. I think Rose would be a great foster mum for old Strider too (can you imagine her telling him off for being naughty?). Thanks again, M ;)

What a perfectly lovely story! I love Rose's simple hobbit wisdom and love here, and how that solid motherly quality comforts Strider. I don't think we ever outgrow the pain of losing our parents, no matter how old we are. In my own stories I often have Rose mothering our beloved Ranger King and I enjoy seeing this in other authors' stories. Author Reply: Hello Baggins Babe, (Blushes at your kind words), thanks for telling me how much you liked this! I'd been thinking about writing an Aragorn/Rose scene for a couple of weeks, mainky because I wanted her to offer this King of Men something his realms and riches could never buy him: the comfort of a mother. It's something we all need throughout life, even if not as much in adult years. I didn't know you had used the two in a similar way, Rose mothering him. You see? Great minds think alike! Sisters unite! Take care, M ;)

What a beautiful heartwarming tale! I'm sure Aragorn did miss his mother.I loved Rose here too. Author Reply: Hello Linda, so happy to hear from you! Thanks for your own lovely words about the fic, I'm thrilled you enjoyed it. I think at times, we all all need our mums and even a king is still someone's wee boy. Unfortunately for Aragorn, his own mum can't offer him the gift of her presence but, luckily for him, Rose Cotton Gamgee has a heart as big as Eriador and would not see any child go without her mother's comfort if they needed it. I love hobbit wives. So practical, so sensible. Definitely Scottish blood in there somewhere...lol. M :)

She got to watch you grow into the best of men, the dearest of sons and I think that might have been enough to get her through her lonely years without him. as a mother, she had seen straight to his heart What a beautiful story. Rose has practical hobbit wisdom and a generous heart, and even a 'lad' like Strider still needs that now and again. Author Reply: Hello Shirebound, Rose is a very unique lady. One of the few characters to know him after he was made king, she still thinks of him as a friend first, monarch second (like the Travellers). And if her mother's heart sees him missing his own mum, she's happy to step up to the mark and offer whatever comfort the lonely child needs (regardless of that 'child's' age). You've got to love hobbit practicality! Thanks for R + R-ing. M ;)

What a delightful tale! It's easy to imagine that a King would have no need of a mother, but who of us ever really outgrows that? And Strider especially, since his mother died so early. Very poignant and well written. Author Reply: Hello Cairistiona, Thanks for your lovely words. Yes, even a King needs his mum now and again; and if he doesn't have one, Rose is happy to step in and fill the gap. I'm glad this brought you some enjoyment! M ;)

*grin* This was charming! Rosie is a SuperMum, isn't she? And hobbit babes!!! *collapses in puddle of awwwwwwwww* Bonus points for unusual character interactions. Thank you, dear, you've made my day. Author Reply: Hello Celeritas, Oh, I'm so happy you enjoyed this! A scene with Rose mothering the King of Gondor and him accepting her coddling has been running through my mind for a couple of weeks now, but I only got down to writing it this afternoon (I should have went shopping instead, but couldn't be bothered, so I'll now be washing my hands with Fairy liquid until tomorrow morning!). And it was a nice opportunity to cameo one of the lesser used Gamgee brood as well. So I'm glad you liked it! M ;)
