I can understand Pippins frustration at being teased so unmercifully, but I do think he let his frustration go a bit too far! Makes you wonder how the Quest would have gone with only 7 Walkers, or did Elrond send a couple more elves or dwarfs along? Would Boromir have survived at Amon Hen, who roused the Ents, was Eoywin able to defeat the Witch King on her own, did Faramir survive? Inquiring minds want to know! Lynda Author Reply: Oh my! I'm afraid you'll just have to wonder. I have no intention of rewriting the entire story of LOTR in an AU without my dear Merry and Pippin. :-) This was just a wee response to what I took as a challenge to write "the impossible" Merry and Pippin story. I'm glad it got you thinking, Lynda, and thank you so much for reading and commenting! :-)

So chilling--and plausible! And how horrible Merry created the mocking rhyme! And no wonder Pippin was never the same! Poor children, both of them! Author Reply: Thank you, Larner. This is the sort of thing that does happen, a child does something that they don't realize can injure or kill their friend. This would have been a tragic event for everyone, so I'm glad it is totally AU.

My god, what a tragedy! But from my point of view, this is absolutely in-character. I'm just glad that this never happened :) Author Reply: I'm glad it didn't as well, Andrea! Thank you for reading and I'm glad you felt it was in character :-)

This gave me cold chills. What a devistating AU. Author Reply: Thank you for being brave and reading this, Garnet. It would have been horrible indeed.

Ah--indeed a sad AU, and especially knowing neither of these will be going with Frodo when the time comes! Fascinating might-have-been! Author Reply: Thank you for reading this Larner. So many things could have happened, but hopefully not so extreme.
