I find it exceedingly rare to stumble upon stories that carry the same tone as the original texts of Tolkien, but this first chapter is captivating in all the same ways. You craft the story beautifully and form in me a genuine desire to read on not only to see the conclusion, but for my own pure enjoyment.

Oh, most excellent! Written in the spirit of the original, and the descriptions so vivid I could see it all clearly unrolling before me. Clever Merry! ...to turn his eyes away, so as not to give Boromir away. The scene with Denethor and Faramir was heart-tugging. How tragic, that they both felt Boromir's approach, and heard the horn, and yet were so divided in spirit. Boromir's stand, in attempt to save the hobbits, is valiant, and inspiring, and hopeless. But you said this is an AU, and so I look forward to reading more. I'm very interested to see how you manage to weave this alternative in with JRRT's grand scheme.

Lin, I can begin to tell you how happy I am to see this posted again. It has been so long since I read it that I am delighted to start again. I love your alternate story for Boromir and the fact that he lives. He is in a difficult predicament right now and you bring his thoughts regarding his circumstances to life. Did the Hobbits escape? Will help arrive? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Oh, all, all too likely to have been the way of it, and good weaving in of movie-verse images. Author Reply: Thank you for reading! I'm pleased to know the movie-verse images are properly woven in. I am trying to stick with book canon as much as possible when I write, but sometimes, those images from the film are just so strong and fitting to the tale!

Hooray! A Boromir lives tale! They are always sorely needed. The first paragraph was so full of tension and action that I caught my breath! Your action words are so brutal and intense. I just sat with my mouth open as I devoured every word. I don’t think I’ve ever read a battle scene so intense. I loved how you went from Boromir to Aragorn to Denethor and Faramir. Each scene was exquisite in detail and emotion and intensity. Yup – intense is the word for this chapter….. Bravo! I can’t wait to read more – very glad you posted two chapters so close to each other! Author Reply: Thanks so much for your encouraging words. I think it was as intense to write it as it was to read it -- maybe that's why it comes across the way it does, I was feeling Boromir's emotion, maybe. ;-)
