This is such a delightful story! I like how Frodo and Sam had their lessons side by side, how they got to play together aftrward, and how Bilbo and Frodo gave Sam overnight shelter from the violent thunderstorm.

Oh this is so sweet! I love this:

But the stick tapping soon began again and it began to be accompanied by foot tapping as well. Bilbo looked up again and found his nephew’s eyes already
on him. "May I be excused?" Frodo asked in delightfully accented and perfectly pronounced Sindarin and then Bilbo realized what he had been silently practicing
to say.

Sam looked up from his studies. He loved hearing Mr. Frodo speak Elvish. Bilbo restrained another sigh and smiled instead.

"Yes, Frodo, you may," he responded in Sindarin. And then he turned to Sam and spoke in Westron. "And you may be, too, Samwise, for I don’t think I could
keep Frodo indoors for another moment and you can keep him better entertained than his lessons right now."

LOL! Sly Frodo, that's just great!

And I think you captured Frodo's character especially well during the rainstorm; all these reactions seem like exactly what he would do, telling Sam stories to try and distract him (though Bilbo had better give them some lessons about surviving in the wild, under a tree is a very dangerous place to be when there's lightning, I was afraid something was going to happen!), and then turning Sam immediately to see how ridiculous they both looked when they got back inside. :)

And of course the end is very sweet, love how you used the line from the song.
Happy birthday again! *hugs*

Author Reply: Ammelda! A review from you!!! It's like another present entirely! :) :) *hugs* Very cool and hantanyel for all your kind words. I have thought on and off for a long time of 'fleshing out' more this memory of Sam's from Worth Fighting For and finally got around to doing it. If the muse likes, this will be start of a series of their love from memories scattered throughout stories, but we shall see. I really have to focus on the book though and I think the muse understands that. Now you have a lot more to review from previous stories too! *cracks wet noodle over your back because I don't want to use a whip* :)

How sweet!

That particular friendship will never ever die, although it will be tested on the quest. But only to be even stronger in the end!

I wish you a very happy birthday :)

Author Reply: Indeed. That love was indestructible and thank God! Thank you so much for the birthday wishes. I'm glad you enjoyed my gift!

What a cute story! I have read several of your stories and love how you write hobbits! Sam is my favorite but I love them all. I really like how you have their "light" shine in your stories. Don't worry about those who mistake real love for slash your stories are obviously about the real thing :) ~Kate

the lad looked up at him and saw the smile and love from those lumunious eyes and knew he was perfectly safe.

Bilbo chuckled behind them and moved into the study. How his beloved nephew had flourished again after the grievous loss of his parents. His broken heart had just needed the right soil to set roots back down into and he had found them in Merry’s young heart and now in Sam’s.

Ohhh, this is just lovely. What a sweet and warm mathom you've given us. I hope you have as happy and peaceful a birthday as you've given our beloved lads.

Author Reply: Thank you, my dear! Glad you stopped by to enjoy! *hugs*

This is just so fluffy and snuggy and...and...and...Awwww!!! :o) There's just so much foreshadowing in this, but in a soft manner. Such as the boys talking about Earendil being the only Mortal ever to go to Elvenhome, but not to be able come back to Middle Earth. Seeing the Havens. Meeting the Elves. Especially, always being friends.

How very sneaky and cunning of Frodo to ask Bilbo to be excused from his lessons in Sindarin. Even if Bilbo was a bit put out w/Frodo's lack of concentration, the fact his beloved nephew had asked him in Sindarin would wipe that all away and Frodo knew that too. That's our Frodo!!

I haven't been feeling all that great since last night, but this was lovely medicine to help me feel a bit better. Thanks for the delightful story Antane!! :o)

Author Reply: Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed! Glad to provide such sweet medicine for you. :) I thought that was cute of Frodo too. *hobbity hug to help you feel even better*

Namarie, God bless, Nurse Antane :)
