Ack! Can I get in the line for Frodo-hugs and offering of tea and biscuits? Considering the circumstances, this was a perfectly natural superstition for Frodo to develop. At least we know (or trust) that he gets to see Sam again. Author Reply: Oh, yes, so many want to reassure Frodo Baggins. And I can appreciate the growth of such a superstition as well. And I DO believe he'll see Sam again in this life, and the others soon enough beyond the Bounds of Arda! Yes, I'll join you in that hug!

Aw, poor Frodo...who can blame him, though? Goodbye is a terribly heavy word to say, and sounds so sad, even without that fear connected to it. Author Reply: Indeed. It was interesting to explore Frodo's deepest fears and self-wrought superstitions.

This is so sad, poor frodo has endured so many sorrows. Author Reply: Ah, yes, you are all too right, Linda. He had too many sorrows, but found his joy in the end. Thanks so.

Oh Frodo! For someone so intelligent he's quite superstitious in that regard. Though I can understand why he feels that way, there's no reason to think he will not see them again beyond the circles of the world. Author Reply: The more imaginative we are, often the more superstitions we find ourselves subscribing to and making up. But he will find them again. Thanks so, Kitty.

That is *so* sad! I can only hope that this was not the end of the conversation and that Gandalf assured him that he would indeed see all of them again one day. Author Reply: Indeed, we can only all hope this, Andrea. Thank you.

Oh, darling! *hugs* What a terrible thing to fear for you to fear but I can understand why. Just tears the heart. But you will see your brothers again and after that there will be no reason to say goodbye because you will always be together and you will see your parents again too! Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: And I'm certain Frodo thanks you, Antane. ;-)

Augh! Tear my heart out, why don't you! sick as the proverbial dog, and staggering back to bed now. (this was worth getting up for) Author Reply: This one appears to have moved several folk. I am honored, Lindelea! Sorry you're sick with it now--I hope not to face it again--it was bad enough the first time! Although I couldn't have gone far from my bed at the time--luckily I can have the laptop right by me!

Oohh, that is so sad. Poor Frodo! But I can understand his sentiment. It reminds me of the story of Abraham Lincoln never saying good-bye, because it sounded so permanent. He preferred "good night", instead. Author Reply: I can, too. Hadn't heard that one about Abraham Lincoln, but I can appreciate it in him. Thanks.
