Hey, this chapter was great and there wasn't even much action! I love Dolgailon! He's so cool! All I want to know is how Anastor, Noruil, Galathil, and Legolas (and Maidhien?) are going to try to sneak south...because I imagine that is coming up in the future, though some may go less willingly then others or only to keep trouble from happening. I still like Aradunnon, but he conducted his fatherly conversation very badly indeed. And I am becoming a Galathil/Maidhien-in-the-future shipper! Parentage isn't everything...besides I still have a secret hope for the two D's anyway. Oh, the anticipation... Author Reply: I still like Aradunnon, but he conducted his fatherly conversation very badly indeed. LOL! I mean, this is Aradunnon here--giving advice on women! How could that possibly go well?! :-) Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! But seriously, in addition to being a total lost cause with women himself, Aradunnon also totally hangs on to grudges (after all, he still completely distrusts Tulus and he's the only one that appears to have repented) and Maidhien is Dannenion's daughter--no way is Aradunnon ever going to be convinced she'd be an appropriate family member. He's too stubborn. And I am becoming a Galathil/Maidhien-in-the-future shipper! Good, sly-smile because it is very central to the future plot. besides I still have a secret hope for the two D's anyway. Even bigger sly smile, but no more hints on that--it's too important. All I want to know is how Anastor, Noruil, Galathil, and Legolas (and Maidhien?) are going to try to sneak south... Oh you'll certainly see eventually. If I can ever get a chance to edit the next chapter. ;-) Thanks so much for the review. I appreciate it so much!

Wow, this is heralding BIG Trouble! And I really like the relationship between Galithil and his father, and that his father has not given up his old gaming habits, despite Thranduil's frown! As i said before, this part of the family is very charming, and to me far more complex because none of them seem to have reached the level of self control that Thranduil exerts, so they are all more prone to trouble! BUt i'm really worried. Galithil is heading for trouble and not exactly knowing how to rein in his emotions, his feelings, his motivations, all good and bad. And he has rescued Maidhien twice (I really loved the detail of ARadunnon with the llittle girl... bet he would have loved to have a little girl of his own.. :-) And I ahve to laugh at DOlgailon know9ing about the tapestry... and THrnaduil using the secret entrance. Sigh. A spy, miscreants, the evil woman in the forest and things stirring down there. Author Reply: Aradunnon is a fun character--so much a product of being raised in Greenwood, no matter who his father was. And Galithil loves that side of him. He (and Legolas) also love that proper Dolgailon knew about hiding behind the tapestry too. I had originally included that part of the dialogue where Dolgailon reveals that and we see Galithil's reaction, but it got cut because this chapter was so long. Galithil loves learning stuff like that about his brother. :-) But yeah, you should be worried. Obviously nothing good is going to come of Galithil being tempted to go south alone. For anyone. Curiouser and curiouser! So Legolas was right that the only way Thranduil would let those two malcreants go to their former villages is to catch them out? Smart kid! And Galithil does not like Maidhien in that way? And he can't imagine ever thinking about a maiden "that way." Hee hee hee! Naive kid. I loved the details about Thranduil's mother weaving tapestries to document Oropher's life, and his wife doing so for his life. It shows how the Elves' everyday life was graced by art. Anastor and Noruil are Trouble. Incarnate. Am I right that they are going to entice Galithil into wrongdoing, even if he has the best of intentions? And that Legolas will then become involved? And Legolas finally put his foot down. Go Legolas! Wonder how long that will last.... I think my favorite line was Legolas watched Galithil go from angry, to concerned, to amused, to sincere, flitting from one emotion to the next like a bee in a bed of wild flowers. What vivid imagery! Nicely done, Elliska! - Barbara Author Reply: Legolas knows his father! ;-) And poor Galithil. He does like Maidhien. Of course he does. Boys are just so amusing to me at that age where they are determined not to 'like' girls. Even kids these days seem to go through this stage where they refuse to admit they've noticed the opposite gender. That's cute. I'm glad you like the bit about the tapestries. Since Dieneryn and Lindomiel both weave, it seemed a logical way to decorate the Great Hall to me. And I am glad you liked that line. When I first wrote the dialogue that inspires it, it amused me because it is so like Galithil and his father and I was trying to imagine how someone who was angry would react. It would be jarring to watch someone cycle through a whole range of emotions when you are trying to be serious. The line was the result. I liked it too, enough to leave it even though it does pull the reader out of Galithil's POV a bit too much. :-) Anastor and Noruil are Trouble. Incarnate. Am I right that they are going to entice Galithil into wrongdoing, even if he has the best of intentions? And that Legolas will then become involved? Oh you absolutely are. :-) Yes, we go back to action for the rest of the story from here on out. Trouble for all involved.

Galithil's admiration for his father is charming here. And the boy is at least smart enough to see that Anastor and Noruil are heading for big trouble. Realizing he does sound like Legolas must have shaken him a little. LOL. I was relieved when Dolgailon showed up, though, because I was afraid Galithil would rise to the "coward" bait. I'm stil not sure he won't. The discussion about Maidhien was awkward, but good for Aradunnon for making the attempt. Galithil probably did need to have his eyes opened to what others, including Maidhien, might think. Legolas is very clever to guess his father's reason for allowing Dannenion and Dolwon to travel from the capital. All that exposure to how his father governs has evidently had an effect. I predict the spy and the kids will have interesting encounters. Author Reply: Poor Galithil. He really is smarter than Anastor and Noruil, even if he is still much more impetuous than his other cousins. And he is the only one amongst them that has been south, so he has some real idea how dangerous it is. Yeah, all that's nice but... I am not a parent, but I think The Conversation would be really hard to do. Galithil has to be the only person to not see he likes Maidhien. Legolas definitely does. Galithil does need to think about it because can you picture Thranduil's reaction to having Dannenion in his family? Not good. Gonna have fun with that. ;-) I predict the spy and the kids will have interesting encounters. You betcha! ;-) I hope they seem interesting, at any rate. :-) Thanks so much for the review, Daw!
