Only a Second or Two  by Larner 11 Review(s)

I would love to have the hobbits get a meal readdy for me, they really know about food.

Author Reply: Oh, I agree, Grumpy! To have Frodo or Sam particularly cook for me would be such a delight!

I think I liked the last one best; Frodo taking Boromir of Gondor on was a priceless mental image! Granted, the hobbits he's traveling with are anything but ordinary, but those ideas he had formed of them (largely based on size, I imagine) were dead wrong!

Author Reply: I suspect both size and apparent lack of gravity would at times interfere with remembering not to underestimate these four. And, of course, the Ring might well have been working on him to lead him to bait Frodo more than was wise. Such dissension would probably be welcomed by the thing.

Ah, our dear Boromir still has a lot to learn about Hobbits! It's easy to underestimate them, isn't it?

Oh, foraging should be a speciality of the Hobbits, considering their appetite, or what does Boromir think where they get their food?

Good point - Frodo might not like to use his weapons, but he still hurt the troll, and his stubbornness and determination have to count for something. It's really amazing that he stood up to all of the Nine, and at a time when he was already feeling so bad!

Ha, Boromir was brought down by Frodo? That will give him something to think, no doubt! He should be glad he didn't get to feel the punch.

Author Reply: Yes, as written here he does have a good deal to learn, doesn't he? Now he begins to appreciate just how capable they are.

To appreciate these child-like creatures are not childish as well takes experience. They are eminently capable of taking care of themselves, and I strongly believe Bilbo would have seen Frodo and Sam well trained in scavenging, a skill they would have shared with others. And by this time Frodo has little personal innocence left, and will lose that, too, before all is said and done.

As for Frodo's ability to deliver a perfect punch--neither Aragorn nor Boromir knows of that skill as yet.

Thanks so, Kitty.

Haha! Can we say Boromir should have sufficiently learned all his lessons by now? ;)

Author Reply: Oh, I DO suspect he has learned them now, whether he would or no! Heh!

Those are great, especially the last one!

Even if Frodo Baggins gets very angry with someone, he still remains polite ;-)

The perfect gentlehobbit!

Author Reply: Glad you think so, Andrea. Thanks! Yes, always polite, even when truly upset!

Poor Boromir - sometimes it seems, he forgets his training and only looks at size for the measure of a man... er, Hobbit!

Author Reply: Well, he's being given some corrections now, isn't he? Heh!

Thanks so, Agape.

Love that middle one! Frodo may have never fought in physical combat, but his battle was all the more fierce, even if it was 'invisible' to others. *hugs him* Like also the resourcefulness of the first and third at the end. Good things came in small packages! :)

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Yes, very resourceful, our Frodo! And as one who's but four foot eleven, I've always felt that sentiment was a good one! Heh!

Thanks so, Antane.

oo i love all of them. I loved how you use the typical stereotypes of hobbits being weak and we see in several instances how Frodo and the other hobbits prove Boromir wrong in his initial perspective of them.
Very nice drabbles--very brilliant. :)

Author Reply: Am glad you agree! Somehow this one called for three drabbles instead of just one as each of Boromir's stereotypes was dealt with! Thanks so, Periantari!

Bit like Fiondil doing embroidery!
More please,
Lynda

Author Reply: Now, that's an interesting comparison! Thanks, Lynda!

Poor Boromir had a lot of misconceptions about hobbits to overcome! I enjoyed these.

Author Reply: Oh, indeed, Cairistiona. Thanks so!
