I just KNEW Legolas was up to something! And to think poor Sam is the one whosse suspect of being a double agent. I think the folk Merry visited will make lovely guests at luncheon. I laughed out loud when Merry said they needed a tea time more than they need golf. Author Reply: Legolas hasn't really thought this all out yet though. He knows he needs to keep an eye on Merry, but he doesn't have the devious hobbit mindset to puzzle out all the pieces. They will certainly be honored to meet the Ring-bearers and their little Prince. ;) Merry knows what the Men of the Gondor need the most, and it's a proper mealtime between lunch and dinner!

"...foxes after a single hare." Hah! That's very amusing. And your Merry certainly has the gift of gab and a way with children, doesn't he? You know, I had to look up "buttery." What a lovely word. I was disappointed to find out it is not a place dedicated to making butter, but I will happily think of it that way, nevertheless. *flaunts Merriam-Webster* ;o) Author Reply: I giggled when I wrote that, so I'm glad you noted it! Merry can charm his way into and out of any situation. If only I was so gifted! He's had practice with children of course, with all those younger cousins at Brandy Hall. Buttery should be about making butter. Not sure why it isn't. What is the word for making butter? *ponders* It's Tolkien's word actually, otherwise I would never had thought of it and probably would have gone with mess hall instead.

Poor Merry--first lost, then followed. Love the interactions with the Haradrim. And I want to learn the stories for the children now. Author Reply: I wonder if Pippin told Bergil to give vague directions, to make Merry's "lie" about getting lost more believable. Would Pippin do that? ... Nawwww! :P Lots of stories to come, though Ioveta's can be found in BWB. Some details might change though.

Oh my! What intrigues you have going! Now in addition to Merry's and Frodo's prank war, we also have the Haradrim Queen and her entourage--I have a feeling that little encounter will figure in the future! And I'm quite intrigued by Ioveta and her little family--I look forward to seeing her make Frodo's acquaintance. And Legolas, Elladan and Elrohir are following Merry! I think Legolas must be more than a little bored to find Merry's wanderings of interest, LOL! But knowing how tricksy *you* are, I am sure there is more to all this than meets the eye... Author Reply: This story keeps getting more complicated, despite my best efforts in keeping it to the point. The hobbits, and everyone else, have different ideas! Ioveta's story more or less borrowed from the one Rick tells in BWB. So if you want to cheat, you can recheck BWB to see what her fate is - though there well may be some variations by the time this is over. Not so much bored as headed in that direction anyway. Elladan and Elrohir will not be letting him off easy for this little detour. :D
