Trust Aragorn to set things right, punish the wrongdoer and correct the wrongdoing. I'm sure the inhabitants of the village will the end see what a great king he is. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm sure once things get better the villagers will like Aragorn.

I am glad Aragorn realized what was happening here, and hope sincerely that this unfair steward is the only one involved in the ill being visited upon the folk of the region. A nasty piece of work he appears to be, too. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I hope the steward is the only rotten apple too!He was a somewhat unexpected addition to the story,as my stories have a life of their own.I have a little surprise for you on my LJ.

I get the feeling that Brandir is not going to be content to merely evade capture. It makes sense that the people would have no idea that Brandir was overcharging the taxes-- he'd probably just waited till Mardil went off to fight. (Reminds me of the Robin Hood tales, in which Prince John took advanted of King Richard's going off on Crusade, and his dismay when his brother returned...) Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm glad you liked the Robin Hood type situation here!

Gondor was a large realm; I'm sure it took Aragorn a while to assert his own brand of fairplay in all corners of it. A very plausible scenerio. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you found the story plausible.

I liked the ending of the chapter, where all is not sweetness and light and Long-Live-The-King. It makes sense that the locals are wary of the king, since they've never seen him and have been unjustly treated by the postRing War authorities. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I@m sure it will take time for Aragorn to win over some of his subjects.

Hooray; glad to see more of this fic! Faramir's decision to send guards ahead was very sensible--not because he and his King needed protection but because of circumstances like this. And how very sly for Brandir to lay extortionary taxes in the King's name. A good thing he's being brought to justice, but I don't blame the people (who can, especially in a group, be rather obtuse) for not appreciating the King's justice at the moment. I wonder, will Aragorn find a way to open legal venues to prevent this sort of thing from happening elsewhere? He cannot be everywhere all the time, after all. This looks to be a lot of fun, especially with both King and Steward shadowing towns in everyday garb. There's something about that idea that's always drawn me. More please! Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated and thoughtful review . I hope Faramir has learned from their misadventures in my other stories!I Think Aragorn will do something to prevent any more Brandir's such as sending his own men to see the correct rates of tax are levied. The story I'M currently posting here,"A Time to Reap" has Aragorn and Faramir working incognito as farm labourers if you enjoy that kind of scenario.
