Journey out of Darkness  by Armariel 2 Review(s)
AntaneReviewed Chapter: 3 on 5/21/2009
Interesting to use one of the professor's thoughts of what may have happened at the Fire if the dawning love of Smeagol for Frodo hadn't been destroyed on the Stairs - that of voluntarily falling into the Fire with the Precious. Of course Sam is partly to blame for what happened on the Stairs but he is not responsible completely, Smeagol is, as he says so himself - we didn't want to be good anymore. Greenjade's dream was interesting.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: I think maybe Sméagol is in denial and is trying to re-shape the story into what he wants it to be as a way of trying to redeem himself, but of course it won't work. It may be a while before he can face up to the truth. Greenjade's journey to redemption may be even more difficult......although truth be known, he's turning out a bit different from what I intended, rather than an evil monstrous Sauron wanna-be, he comes across at times more as a rather charming rogue, it seems...but then psychopaths can be very charming;) Well, but I guess my muse knows what she's doing...lol

Thanks once more for your comments; I highly value them....

Greenjade has lost so much, and does not ever appear to have known compassion. Well, it is time to start now! And he will learn it, I'm certain.

As for Gollum--he seeks to prettify his memories, but then to shift blame to Frodo--and will learn to accept the truth eventually, I hope.

Sam holds their memories for them, I fear.

Glad to see the new chapter, Armariel!

He lacks self-knowledge, I think, and has remained frozen in a childlike state, in which he believes that others should defer to him, and he does not know how to please them because he thinks everyone else feels as he does. And he does not know how to love yet. Here's hoping he will learn, but it won't happen overnight!

Gollum is definitely in denial. But maybe yes, he'll learn.

Sam holds their memories for them, I fear.

Glad to see the new chapter, Armariel!

And I'm glad to see your comments, Larner!:):):):)
Although I'm having a hard time answering because I have a new kitten and he's all over me at the moment.......)
