I think what I liked best about the beginning of this is Boromir's attitude... most fanfic I've read of his time in Lorien is focused on the despair he feels... I love this sense of urgency, of desperate impatience... And I loved that he turned to cleaning/preparing his gear - for I can see a soldier being heartened by the mundane task of caring for his armor. I love Boromir's 'talking' to his sword, but rue the fact that Tolkien did not allow us to 'see' the glory of these two valiant Men fighting side by side. (Perhaps your 'other' tale might bring us such a glorious scene?) For him to have the hope of Aragorn at his side, with Anduril, must have been heartbreaking.... Aragorn could not have realized the insidiousness of the plan of Sauron against Gondor and what it had doen to its Men... We see the final ploy that takes Denethor's life... Oh my! The ending of the sword - that was so beautifully, tragically written. Bravo! Well done, Linaewen!

A proper, if terrible, way for his sword to have been found broken there on Parth Galen. And indeed he has felt his hope wane, thinking it fell to him to carry hope back to his land and people. But another will fulfill that hope in the end, and his spirit will rejoice. Well written chapter.
