Well, that was an interesting nightmare, and hope no more come like that! Love the aftermath though - all the hobbity love. :) Love most - Frodo frowned at Sam, but Sam lifted an eyebrow in response and that ended the argument. I love their 'arguments' - Sam certainly knows how to put Frodo in his place! :) If there's anything more stubborn than a Baggins, it's a Gamgee looking after a Baggins. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Frodo's nightmare was quite darker than I expected! But the hobbity love does make up for some of it. Sam has grown much over the Quest, even to the point where he can put his foot down, even to Frodo, so long as it's in Frodo's best interest. Though really, Sam learned long ago how to 'persuade' his master to take care of himself. ;)

Ah--another tale of healing stones! Excellent, and so appropriate for Dwarves! And back to the invitations, eh? Heh! Merry knows who is trustworthy within the house. And good to see Frodo knowing some peace. That would be a terrible nightmare indeed! Author Reply: I finally get to use healing stones! Dwarves seem the perfect canditates for having developed this particular method of healing. :) Merry hasn't forgotten his true quest here. Sam is possibly the most trustworthy hobbit in the house - which is exactly what makes him such a successful conspirator/spy! ;) Frodo will be feeling better for a while now. A terrible dream indeed!

Oh, what a horrible dream! But I loved Gimli's therapy! I think I read that other story you mentioned, too. But I can't remember the author who wrote about Gimli and the healing stones. I think it's very fitting that dwarves have knowledge about the healing power of stones. It is truely amazing how easily Sam leaves his master's side, conspiracy or no. I'd say it's a sign of how much he trusts Gimli and his stones! Author Reply: That was a terrible dream. It's even worse that he knew he was dreaming, but wasn't able to wake himself up anyway. (I hate it when that happens to me.) I think it was a story by Auntie Meeshie, if I'm spelling that right. I liked that aspect of the story very much and have been waiting quite a long time to make use of it myself. It makes perfect sense that they would have learned this skill and make use of it. Sam certainly does trust Gimli, and all the Fellowship, with his master. He also clearly needed to regroup himself, and he knew Gimli would get him if something dire happened. Thankfully, all went smoothly. :)

I am so glad that Gimli was able to provide relief for Frodo. It's wonderful how Sam's love of his master causes him to be both the gentle protector and the loyal conspirator. The contradiction is fascinating and very believable and powerfully demonstrates Sam's complexity and the depth of his devotion to Frodo. Author Reply: Frodo certainly did need it, poor thing. Gimli was wise to think of it while still in Rivendell. Sam considers the conspiracy to be in Frodo's best interest, and so an extension of his duties to protect him. He only wants Frodo to be healthy and whole again. At this point, that means trying to get him interacting with other people. Later on, it might well mean something else.

He opened the curtains above the bed to allow the full glow of the sun into the room, bathing Frodo in a golden light that mingled with his own inner light. What a beautiful image. And I love the idea of Gimli knowing how the earth's gems and stones can help balance energies. It makes perfect sense! Author Reply: Thank you, dear! Frodo's light is still there, a reassurance to Sam at this time, I'm sure. Dwarves and rocks - I wouldn't be surprised if they are able to speak with them, much the same way that elves speak with trees. Dwarves would have long ago learned the healing properties of stones, just as elves learned the healing properties of living things. :)

What a wonderful chapter, sweetie! I love that Sam trust Gimli so much that he asks him to stay with his master. Frodo's dream was quite disturbing, I hope the stones will work very well (I trust Gimli, too.) Thank you for this great read, my dear. Author Reply: Thank you for reading, dear! Sam would trust anyone in the Fellowship with his master. Gimli should be shocked that Sam left Frodo's side at all, but then, he doesn't suspect that Sam would be conspiring against his master. He's busy being on the lookout for suspicious activity from Pippin and Merry! Frodo's dream did go to a dark place. Much darker than I suspected when I first started writing it. I hope the stones work as well. I have a feeling they will. For a while.

Glad to see a welcome bit of Sam... as loyal companion and as conspirator, hah. Love the bit about under Sam's bed. And the last line, too. And, oh my, Gimli is certainly brave to stand up to a Gamgee! ;o) Author Reply: Sam wears both faces so well, that someone who didn't know him extremely well would never be able to tell when he switched! They forget that he's a spy and he's just so unassuming. ;) I'm surprised Sam's bed isn't hiding a treasure trove of conspiracies! :D Sam was in need of some herbal medicine - hah! A good hour or two in the garden will put him to rights. Gimli has all that dwarf strength. He figured he had nothing to fear in standing his ground. ;)

Oh how I LOVE this chapter! I LOVE Gimli using the pendulum to diagnose Frodo's unbalanced chakras (or, I suppose fea as the Elves would say!) Of course, in my "universe" its hobbits who use the pendulum, but it seems very fitting that in yours it is the Dwarves! That dream was ominous, and I am worried that it signifies more than just bad memories of the Quest, but we shall see, I suppose. I also loved Gimli's astonishment that Sam trusted him with Frodo-- what a lovely touch it was! *grin*sits back to wait for more* Author Reply: Perhaps your hobbits picked it up from a dwarf passing through the Shire. ;) I read in another fan fic where someone gave the art of healing stones to the dwarves, and that just made sense to me. They are so attuned to the nature of rocks and earth. So far, the dream only means that bad memories are creeping up on him again. Of course, my Muses may change that later. ;) Gimli certainly wasn't expecting that! Silly dwarf. He long ago proved his trustworthiness. Sam would trust any of the Fellowship with his master. The real shock should have been that he left Frodo's side at all. But then, Gimli would never suspect Sam of conspiring against his master and so wouldn't think there was anything fishy about it. :D
