This was glorious (hideously) wonderful! Poor Eowyn - like so many of us - thinking blithly that the ceremony would be so simple and all its attendant pieces/parts would just flow.... NOT. As for Faramir - oh dear..... PS - I loved the descriptions - you write beautifully!

Poor Eowyn having to wear such a hideous dress, your description of the garment made me shudder! I hope she can escape this dreadful fate! Author Reply: It seems a fate worse than death, eh? ;-)

I think Eowyn would rather be on the battlefield than have to deal with Auntie Ivriniel and The Dress From H*ll. Did Finduilas have really wear such a horror? Looking forward to the next chapter! Author Reply: Well, Dreamflower thinks this is probably what sent Finduilas into depression and premature death. ;-) Thanks for reviewing.

oh this is shaping up to be interesting! A great start and I'm looking forward to more of this little war between the two ladies--and to see Faramir's reaction to it! Author Reply: Thanks, glad it's caught you imagination.

Oh, this is going to be FUN. My $ is on Eowyn. May I guess that the Stewards tended to marry in the winter? Thanks Author Reply: Thanks to you, too. Are you really betting? ;-)

Ah--it is to be day by day here, eh? Wonderful! Yes, the slayer of the Witch-king has met her match in determination now! And the dress sounds just as awful the second time through as the first time! Poor Eowyn! Heh! I'd MUCH rather wear the green gown myself! Heh! Author Reply: Well, day by day seems to make some sense. I kind of wrote it like that with chapters in mind. Please don't feel obliged to review every chapter. You'd rather have the green dress? Well, I'd never! ;-)

Well, she did kill the Witch King, hope that she can defect his Queen...Poor Eowyn..Glad that you are back. Author Reply: Hmm, I had thought of Ivriniel as a maiden aunt, but maybe she did have an affair with Angmar...? Possibly not. ;-) Thanks for reviewing.

It's not real, right? She's just making it up out of spite? Author Reply: We shall see, shall we? ;-)

My God, that dress is a monstrosity! Eówyn would look positively HORRID in it! But am eagerly anticipating the Battle of the Dress! (read the battle of the Shield-maiden against the elderly aunt) Author Reply: It will be a battle, though not with conventional means. :D Thanks for reviewing!

Very funny! And, I am afraid, Faramir will be hard pressed to side with the tradition. Maybe Eowyn can, I don't know, change before reception? But how the Steward's bride's dress ended up in Dol Amroth? Author Reply: Thanks for reviewing. Glad you found it funny. I was a bit concerned that the humour value would be too meagre - though it does get better in subsequent chapters. How did the dress end up in Dol Amroth? Maybe Ivriniel was maid of honour and as such it was her job to have it in safe keeping for the next candidate. Or maybe there is a prophesy that great evil will befall if it is kept in Minas Tirth. Who knows? Insert ridiculous custom of your choice!
