| Sorry to be so behind here but what a nice story, another of the many many loving, sweet memories Merry would have of his Frodo and Frodo would have of his Merry. And Happy Birthday! | This was so cute!! I really loved the beginning wistfulness of Frodo's realizing that Merry is now old enough to begin understanding that not all is right at the Great Smials. And then you rounded it off with good old-fashioned hobbit fluff! Now that's a way to go about celebrating your birthday! Author Reply: When it comes to his little cousin, Frodo is very perceptive. And even at a young age, my Merry is a protective little thing. He is puzzled at why Lalia makes the people he loves "sad and angry", but it raises his hackles to have them disturbed that way. Yet he's still a bit too young to figure out just how to deal with it. Frodo's solution of getting themselves away for a day was just right. And hobbitfluff is a great weakness of mine. I just love giving young hobbits happy times and good memories, that will sustain them later on. | |

| Am so very glad they were able to have this pleasure together. And loved the oblique reference to the other tale in which Lalia herself managed to bring about a tragedy through the overuse of that tongue of hers. An excellent comeuppance offered her by Bilbo! Author Reply: Yes. I felt that Bilbo would not have much tolerance for her sharp tongue, and he also knew where her own "skeletons" were buried-- and being head of the Bagginses and not under her thumb, he could remind her with impunity, knowing it would shut her up! | |

| First of all, belated Happy Birthday! Hope you had a great day! This is a lovely gift to your readers! Nothing better than a bit of Hobbitfluff. Very sensible of Frodo to take Merry (and himself) as far away from Lalia as possible. And the two had a wonderful day, swimming and playing and enjoying themselves. Author Reply: Well, I have a great weakness for hobbitfluff, both to read and to write it! I hope their day was very enjoyable-- I think that anytime it was just the two of them, they would have had a great time! | |

| A Golden Summer's Day, indeed! The perfect day for Merry and Frodo to enjoy each other's company and to forget about Lalia the Fat. It was also the perfect occasion for a Tip and Tulip Story. I like those very much, especially the fact that their auntie always knows what *really* happened ;-) Thank you very much, Dreamflower and happy (belated) birthday to you! Author Reply: Well, that's just what Frodo hoped. And the day after, they can all head to Bag End, and put her behind them. I love writing "Tip and Tulip". | I love it when it's a story about Frodo and Merry during this time in their relationship. First time I've seen one about Merry's realization about just how nasty Lalia is though. Dead on the money though. This had a little bit of everything in it...Frodo and Merry having fun, Frodo trying to give Merry some comfort and time alone from everyone else, Frodo teaching Merry something, a Tip and Tulip story...Just...Sigh!!! :oD Thank you for the lovely story Sweetie and a very Happy Birthday to you!! (((HUGS))) BTW, did you know you share your birthday w/my country? Canada is also marking our Birthday today. It was 142 years ago Confederation happened and the Dominion of Canada became a country in our own right. So Happy Birthday to all of us!! :o) Author Reply: I love those too. There can never be enough young!Frodo wee!Merry stories to suit me. Merry was an intelligent and sensitive child. He just had to pick up on how Lalia made the people around her feel. | A picnic, splashing in the pond, feeding the ducks, skipping stones and to round it all off, a good story - I tell you, my children would have loved this outing, too! And it's so cute that, being hobbits, they need two picnic hampers! Author Reply: I had a very good time myself on this outing!
