| Ungoliant sounds horrible indeed, a great spider who wants to devour all light and make darkness of it. Small wonder Melkor used her as a weapon. I still don´t think there was much of an alliance between them, they just used each other for a time. It looks to me as if Meril is pained by the memory of the Silmarills, and I wonder what her opinion on Feanor might be. Author Reply: You're absolutely right about Melkor and Ungoliant. And no, Meril doesn't have any fond memories of Fëanor at all! | |
