This is amazing!! I am printing it out so that I never lose it. Daeron was so sorrowful and intense, it was a good thing Aragorn didn't exactly tell him who he was in love with. I wonder if you could write a story where Arwen meets Daeron!

This is a wonderful story! At first, I thought the Elf was Maglor, but it swiftly became apparent, with the mention of Thingol, that it was Daeron. Their emotions came through, especially Daeron's eternal grief. Author Reply: Thank you so much for your review. I guess most people thought this was Maglor at first, so well done you for figuring differently! I'm so glad Daeron's grief was evident. I can't imagine be ever got over losing someone like Luthien.

Hi! I'm so pleased to see more writing from you. If looks could kill.... Your description of Daeron's intense loathing of Aragorn made me want to crawl under a rock! Yikes! Again, your characters have so much depth. I felt so much pain and sadness for Daeron. The passage that he recited about the "pain he will feel" if the lady that he desires "does not grant your favor"...just about killed me! Beautiful! Hope to see more of your writings...I miss your Aragorn! Author Reply: Thank you so much, RS, for your lovely review. I've had a bit of a break from writing after completing 'A of A' but this tale just demanded to be told! I'm so glad you found Daeron a real character as we have so little to go on. I'm slowly putting together a long Aragorn and Halbarad tale but I won't post any of it until it's finshed. In the meantime, I hope other episodes, like this one, will just jump out at me from time to time. Your encouragement is so much appreciated.

A nifty encounter, written well and convincingly. Interesting correspondence between the love felt by Aragorn for Arwen and the love felt by Daeron for Luthien. A good thing that Aragorn didn't mention just whose descendant his beloved was, and who she resembled - Daeron probably would have killed him, or himself out of frustration! Author Reply: Lol! I had exactly the same thought, best keep quiet about that one! Thank you for your review, Raksha, I'm glad you enjoyed this.

This story was fascinating. It was a great idea to have Aragorn and Daeron meet. I loved how mysterious the strange elf seemed at first and how you slowly unravelled the mystery for both Aragorn and the reader. I liked the little detail that Aragorn was missing the company of elves and how taken aback he was by the behaviour of that specific elf. Daeron's fate is such a sad tale and you really made him come to life. I liked how meeting Daeron renewed Aragorn's determination to win Arwen's heart and prove worthy of her. The similarities between him and Daeron were intruiging. I very much enjoyed reading this story! :) Almut Author Reply: Thank you so much, Almut, for your lovely review. It was a fun story to put together especially as I had no idea what Daeron would be like, other than that he was Sindar of Doriath who obviously considered himself worthy of the hand of a king's daughter. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

Oh, what a great story. Both sad and so revealing. But I wonder, wouldn't Aragorn have guessed earlier that he was talking about Lúthien? Author Reply: Thank you, Vilwarin, I wonder! I guess he was so flabbergasted at coming across an Elf at all that he was a bit slow on the uptake!

When I realized this was Daeron I felt particularly grieved. What a marvelous meeting! Now, will Aragorn ever speak of this meeting with his own beloved? Thank you for this, Inzilbeth! Author Reply: Oh I wonder! Thank you, Larner. Immediately I read this passage again I thought of this meeting but I can't help but wonder at what was Daeron's ultimate fate. I'm so pleased you enjoyed it.

That was a fascinating story, which I enjoyed very much. I had never noticed the similarities between Aragorn's story and Daeron's plight before you made such a great job of pointing them out. I can well imagine how being confronted with the poignancy of Daeron's despair would force Aragorn to face how bleak his future might be if Arwen came to to chose another. Well done Author Reply: Thank you so much, Estelcontar, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I don't think I had given a huge amount of thought to Daeron either until I started putting this together and then I realised just how sad it was that he was still wandering in Middle-earth, lamenting his lost love.
