Aww! this does seem exactly like something Frodo would do for Sam in hope of his coming, and I bet it was healing for him, too. There's nothing quite like tending a plant and watching it grow under your care. Author Reply: Glad you enjoyed it, ammelda! I think anything that connected him to home and Sam (which is one and the same thing) he would do and of course he wanted Sam to feel at home also. :) Namarie, God bless, Melinyel, Piptane :)

Of course this garden will respond so to Sam! A joy to find the very land awaiting him! Author Reply: Hantanyel, my dear! Glad you enjoyed it! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

The garden is pleased to grow all the better for the tending of this Master Gardener even though it thrived under the hand of the apprentice.

It could be wonderful to find Bag End copied for them in the Undying Lands, but I think I personally will stay with my summer house, a gentle place plainly divorced from the life they'd known in Middle Earth, a reminder they have been transplanted. But I can certainly understand Sam's delight in the stars overhead and the rich soil underneath, and the delight in soil and flowers at being under the hands of such a master of the craft! Yes! Author Reply: Sorry to be so late in responding here - I love the idea of being 'transplanted' which they certainly were, but also a Bag End in the West would help perhaps in the beginning to get over the shock, though it would feel 'queer' also as Frodo said so maybe you would right to have a place totally different. I wish we knew more about their time there! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

This is so full of joy. I love the idea that the garden 'tolerated' Frodo's efforts, but was truly excited to be tended by Sam. What a lovely image. Author Reply: My apologies for responding so late here, but so glad you enjoyed! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
