A horrible but too likely ruse to use. And the hatred--so likely. In my-verse, Aragorn's first human kill was after he returned to his own people, as he found himself fighting against invaders from north of the border. Afterwards he could not bring himself to carve beast or fowl unless there was no other way, remembering the feel and sound as his sword clove through the Man's shoulder. That first kill of another Man must have been traumatic.

I enjoyed reading this on your LJ and again here... such a hard thing for a young man to go through, a coming of age that came on far too suddenly and far too violently. No wonder he more or less fell to pieces. What a wise friend Glorfindel is... just a good mentor should be. I enjoyed this very much.

Excellent story Calenlass, It is very difficult when a child grows up and begins to realize that some parts of the world are not a beautiful as he believed. Glorifindel is wonderful. I wouldn't give up on mankind yet. Just when you wish to wash your hands of mortals they do some thing wonderful and you realize just like our heros from Tolkien that love really is a powerful force. Enjoyed immensely
