| What fun! I really have enjoyed this story so much, and it was really interesting to see your thought processes on it! I will hop over to LJ to look at your excerpts! By the way, there is *one* canon prank in LOTR, a very mild one-- and perpretrated by Pippin of course. It was on the way to Crickhollow, when Pippin confuses the sleeping Sam by ordering bathwater! But I don't have a problem with prankish hobbits, because JRRT himself was a bit of a practical joker, at least according to his biographer Humphrey Carpenter, who details a few of them. One of them involved his wearing a bear suit! So I think hobbits would partake a little of that side of their creator's nature! Author Reply: Tolkien did consider himself a hobbit. Makes sense then if they enjoy a good prank now and again. :D | |
