Another Moment of your Time  by Larner 9 Review(s)

*snicker* I know I should feel sorry for Eglantine for having to put up with all that, but it's still too funny not to laugh.

How very like Frodo to use a story to drive the point home to Pippin that honesty is all good, but there are times when it's wise to keep the mouth shut. Well done! I think Pippin has gotten the message.

Author Reply: So glad it gave you a nice laugh, Kitty! All mothers endure such things, it seems. Part of the territory. And I do think you're right about Pippin getting the message!

That was a very creative way for Frodo to teach Pippin to think before talking. Some things are definitely better left unsaid.

Author Reply: Oh, that's so right, Tari. Thanks!

An interesting way to teach a lesson and by one beloved of Pippin and through the tale telling that he loves so doubly the lesson would have taken. Merry's confidence in his elder cousin's brain was not misplaced!

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: I love how Frodo strives to do well in Merry's estimation! Thanks!

Frodo always knows the perfect story for the occasion! That's really amazing.

Not only Pippin, but all the others as well, should be grateful to have such a talented relative ;-)

Author Reply: I am so glad you think so, Andrea. This was fun to write, and was inspired in part by a client I work with who has the regretable habit of tattling on other folk on a regular basis. I do think that Frodo would realize just how to appeal to Pippin to stop this destructive behavior.

A lovely glimpse of the Hobbit children and the good the Rangers do.

Author Reply: I'm so glad you think so, Linda. I'd like to think that not all Hobbits looked on Rangers with total suspicion.

Oh my! Your little Pippin is a good deal like my Folco-- the difference being, of course, that Pippin took the lesson of the story, whereas my Folco would never have understood its wider applicability, LOL!

The story is very clever as well-- the complete opposite of "the Boy Who Cried Wolf". It makes me woder: *did* Frodo hear that story before, or did he make it up on the spot? *grin*

Author Reply: Where your Folco simply cannot dissemble, this little Pippin is self-righteously choosing not to do so, and with disasterous results, of course. As for when Frodo might have heard that story--well, that will one day be told. Heh!

A perfect tale within a story. Two for the price of one. Poor Pippin - and poor everyone else! But at least they got to stay in happier company for a while!

Author Reply: Indeed, Harrowcat! At least Pippin took the lesson to heart, the dear lad. And none of them had to put up with Lalia lording it over everyone! Heh!

“What do you think?” Frodo answered in a gentle voice.

“So I shouldn’t tell you that Pearl----” But something in Frodo’s suddenly stern countenance stopped him, and Pippin took a deep breath instead. “Oh, I see,” he said.

A darling story, and a very good lesson. :)

Author Reply: Oh, I'm glad you think so, Shirebound. Thanks so!

Heh! Frodo was a clever one, wasn't he?

Author Reply: But of course, Soledad! And it's good to hear from you. Will there be more chapters to beta soon?
