| He was reminded vividly of a day long past, when he had let out all of his anger and frustration at his Uncle Saradoc and Aunt Esmeralda, only to feel foolish afterwards when he discovered that what had triggered his fury was all a misunderstanding on his part. | And this one is even better. :) Her kinship with Gandalf, and her enjoyment of "hobbitdom" - yes, very fit. Author Reply: We know that Gandalf completely took on the mortal form. True, he did not perceptibly age beyond the elderly appearance he had to begin with, but he was subject to all the feelings and frailties of that body-- and he was also subject to all the good things too! Witness how much he enjoys his pipeweed, for example, and how he delights in the company of hobbits. And like Gandalf, Mirime has experienced mortal life. She did age, along with her husband, though it was at her own volition. She experienced love and child-bearing and eating and drinking, all things which we are told serve to bind a Maia's fea closer to the hroa they are wearing. | |

| So they have made up. Good. And I think Frodo will be delighted to know Mirimë still loves his race so much. Author Reply: There was no question that they would-- Frodo is nothing if not fair, and once he'd thought it through, he knew his questioning was not really her fault. And of course she loves all those descendants! *grin* | |

| Well, of course she does! How perfect that dual realization--that she and Gandalf are indeed akin, and that she loves being a Hobbit! Perfect! Author Reply: Adamanta/Mirime and Gandalf are alike in many ways-- the most important, of course, is in loving hobbits! But also, both are attached to the bodies they have inhabited, and are willing to allow those bodies to have and show the frailties common to the Secondborn, in order to enjoy the feelings and sensations of those bodies. | |

| She sounded so much like his mother. And I'd say she also *looked* like his mother would have looked if she still had lived at that age. Frodo's urge to ask questions is now stilled. So, I wonder if he will allow Adamanta to be like a mother to him. For that would also contribute to his healing. Author Reply: Perhaps-- I imagine her as looking like a number of the female relatives Frodo knew, his mother included-- but not exactly like any of them. Well, he will still have an urge to question, but not the same sorts of quetions that were troubling him. More the sorts that are sheer curiousity! And Adamanta will try to mother him, at any rate! | |

| Yes, it would be nice to be one, so close to nature and feeling it physically and spiritually and all that. No wonder she likes it! :) And thank God for his Tookish curiousity.
