| Beautiful! Elbereth smiled upon him still. Faeglin is right. Sam is too humble to see that he did many great deeds during and after the quest. His greatest deed was the constant help he was to Frodo by never leaving his side (except one time and that was when he thought him dead)! But Elbereth did not change his character. She sharpened his senses instead. And so it is still the same little gardener who greets Faeglin on Tol Erresėa. Author Reply: Sam's humbleness is one of his many fine qualities, and is what makes him worthy of this gift. It would have served him well long beyond the Quest. It would not have changed him, just made him more aware of his surroundings. Thanks for reading! | |

| A lovely sweet story! The quote from Ithilien is my favorite from Book IV. Sam was given different grace than Frodo was, in keeping with his vocation of looking after his beloved treasure, and his openness to the spiritual realm is seen in the visions he had of his master throughout the Quest. Frodo was just as attuned but differently. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Sam certainly did need to see more than the average hobbit, and he proved he was more than capable of using the gift given him, just as Frodo was.
