| I love the atmosphere in this--the feeling of edge and unknown despite the setting of peace. And I like the idea of these tentative connections being made in the Fourth Age--tentative, because they don't entirely dispel the old ways of thinking that caused the ban on the forest in the first place. Author Reply: Thank you very much, Celeritas. :) In my head, this takes place maybe a generation removed from the Ring War generation--far enough along that the ban for Men to intrude into the Forest is a given; one shouldn't even conceive of going in there!, but close enough that knowledge that the needed healing herbs grew within the woods hadn't been lost. If I ever get around to writing the backstory, I'll explore that in more detail. I'm very glad you liked this! | |

| Oh, very nice, and very Fourth Age! I would think the early Fourth Age must have been a wonderful time of cross-cultural openings; and Ghan-buri-ghan's herbs saving a child in Gondor is a perfect sign of those times. Good for Halmir!
