Erchirion! I don't think I've seen much, if anything, about him before, much less him with Faramir. Interesting concept...I remember reading your comment about Imrahil as Father of the Year vs. Denethor...I think you're quite right.

And what a thought to carry--that one is merely "the spare." Both deserve better.

I like this take on Faramir's isolation--reminding us that he's not the only one to be ignored in favor of an older brother, through starting with Erchirion. And I also like the idea that something as sad as that can create a stronger bond between those who have to experience it together. Author Reply: Celeritas, you've just given me a glimmer of an idea for a future drabble using Erchirion and Faramir. *grin* We'll see what the imagination develops from it. While most fanfic interpretations of Imrahil show him as "Father of the Year" compared to Denethor, in this interpretation, I see Denethor and Imrahil raised up in the patriarchal society in which primogeniture rules. If you are the firstborn son, you get it all, and the spares get the crumbs. The boys aren't left behind out of malice, but because, frankly, they simply aren't as important as their elder brothers. Thanks for reviewing! :)
