I always loved the way the succession of White Trees paralleled Gondor's tenuous grip on continuity. Thanks for this. Author Reply: When I first sat down to draft this drabble, all I had was the sense that he had the seed in his pocket, always gently fingering it, almost like a good luck charm. The prayer itself came as I wrote, and I'm very happy with how it turned out. It was fun to research the Kings of Gondor so I could pick out who it was who put it there to wait for Aragorn to find it. Thanks for reviewing. | |
