So Fëanáro had the audacity to accuse the noble Ingaran of ….making free use of the Noldor in order to settle some business of his own. Such an outrageous and totally groundless accusation. “bursting into laughter”. But I have to praise both Ingwion and Ingwë’s acting skills. Most impressive, indeed, Ingoldo himself would have been proud of their little scheme. But, well, anything for the greater good, I suppose. “grin” Manveru and Erunáro in full battle regalia, swords at the ready and hauberks gleaming, an impressive sight. Why, but Melkor himself would have run for his life had he been unfortunate enough to come across them in his little trek about Aman and Ungoliant would have tripped on her eight legs in her hurry to save her hide. I’m sorry but this is really all that came into my mind when I saw them. They are part of the Valar’s failure as much as any other Ainu is. They come now to guard Ingwë against…no idea really against whom and what would they protect him but no long ago they let Melkor to frolic about Aman, from Ezellohar to Formenos, giant spider in tow, without as much as a pat on the shoulder. As a result, Finwë died and nothing would ever be the same. Even now, the Valar don’t seem to get it, at least this is what I think. It was , well, refreshing to see the royal’s family behavior “eyes glinting”. As it was to see that Findaráto ‘s foremost concern is and will always be the well-being of his friends. Very interesting, indeed. Nice trip they had on their way to inspect the royal granaries “grin”, of which I noticed two things. First, Tol Erresëa and second, the kindness of the Teleri sailors. Had Melkor tried to corrupt them, the poor fool might have found himself like the one trying to sell figs in Damascus. “grin Author Reply: "Had Melkor tried to corrupt them, the poor fool might have found himself like the one trying to sell figs in Damascus." Now that image just beggars the imagination, Sitara. LOL But I suspect you are right about that. As for the rest... well, everyone is still acting naively and as if its SOP when it clearly isn't. She would take him back to that cave again, would she? She obviously has it in mind to torture him a bit! Poor Arafinwe! At least they found the path, and it didn't take them all that long. It shall be interesting to see Olwë's take on recent events - both Finwë's death, and Fëanáro's shenanigans in Tirion, as well as the oath that he and his sons swore. The little interplay between Ingwë and Fëanáro over Ingwë's escort was interesting. Fëanáro automatically assumed that Ingwë had appropriated some of his people for this, and was evidently all set to be mortally offended _and_ manganimously forgiving of Ingwë's breach of courtesy - I suspect he rather underestimated Ingwë here. Nice to see Manveru and Erunáro again. And also nice to see that not even recent events have entirely destroyed their sense of humor. ;-) There is evidently a fair amount of Eärwen's personality in Findaráto, since he was the one who started singing that naughty song. And perhaps the character traits he got from his mother helped him when he was writing his famous book? ;-) Author Reply: Hi Sunny. And we will see Olwë's reaction in the next chapter. And Fëanáro, being young and arrogant, has indeed underestimated Ingwë. It was nice to see the High King take the wind out of Fëanáro's sails, wasn't it? grin Glad you enjoyed seeing Manveru and Erunáro. You're not the first to mention say so and I was surprised that these two Maiar characters were so popular with readers as they don't show up too often in my stories. As for Findaráto, I suspect you are correct. Or maybe it was his atar who taught him that particular sea chanty. Well that's a swat on the nose for Feanaro, also a reminder just who is in charge in Aman, and I don't just mean Ingwe! Good to see those two jokers showing up. So Finderato and Ingwion have made it safely to Alqualonde, in spite of having to spend more time at the graneries than had been planned. I wonder what Olwe will think of what they have to say and also what Feanaro has and has not done. Huggs, Lynda Author Reply: Hi Lynda. Yes, Fëanáro might be Noldóran, but Ingwë is definitely the High King here. grin As to how Olwë will react to Ingwion and Findaráto's news, that remains to be seen. Thanks for reading and reviewing. Poor Amarië (again) Glad to see Erunáro and Manveru, it is like meeting old firends. If only Olwen could have figure it out that Feanor needed his ships to leave. Now that I realize that it was not a precipitated event, I wonder why they were not prepared for the outcome or maybe they were, but no one could have imagined a massacre (don’t know why, Feanor had already made an attempt). Very interesting your story Fiondil, I can't wait for the next chapters, even if I know how terrible the kinslaying was. Author Reply: Hi Fantasia. Yeah, Manveru and Erunáro are old friends, aren't they? One of these days I'd like to write a short story around them if the Muse ever gives me a story. It was nice to have a chance to breathe and to back away from the smoldering anger that is Feanaro embodied at this time. Finderato and Ingwion will find a very different and more relaxed feel to Alqualonde and it will serve them well. It was very pleasant to have the High King finally on his way back to Valmar, and I loved his escort - two warrior maiar should easily be able to handle anything that may come their way. All in all, a nice breathing space for a bridging chapter. Now back to the nitty gritty.... - Erulisse (one L) Author Reply: Hi Erulisse.
