Ooh....love it when you foreshadow future events. Author Reply: As I noted to Dreamflower, the foreshadowing was strictly unintentional! But it appears to have slipped in in spite of me! Heh!

Great chapter! I'm once again fascinated by the different meanings of words so that they can be applied to things, like the kiln and people (or hobbits), like Pippin. I also liked the idea that Frodo let Pippin show him around. Author Reply: It's been fun imagining how these potters terms can be applied in other manners. And younglings always love being able to show their elders about someplace where they belong but the elders don't. Sort of like visiting your child's school with the child--it makes the child feel important! Heh!

Ooo another installment! I am just really curious to see where this is going...... *hums to self* ~~~~~{~@ Author Reply: There will be a few more installments. They gave us four prompts on the Tolkien Weekly site, but I'm now adding to those four!

This is one of the cleverest uses of foreshadowing in a drabble I've ever seen, all based on one word! I counted several foreshadowed events here: Pippin' admonition to Frodo foreshadows the revelation of the Ring by Gandalf and Mount Doom for Frodo, and Pippin's own encounter with the palantir. Then in the next paragraph, was the foreshadowing of both the palantir and of Denethor's end... Wow! Author Reply: Considering I'd not intended to foreshadow much of anything except that Pippin is beginning to mature, I'm honored! Pippin is indeed a delightful young Hobbit who will one day be a party to or observer of many enlightening events that will truly be momentous for the whole of Arda, but on this day he is a young Hobbit who sees himself as part of the potter's world.
