Wow! What a difference an 'apprenticeship' with Lord Manwe makes. Ingwion looks like a whiny brat next to Arafinwe. He really needs to grow up. Granted his treatment was not fair and he encountered unlooked for hardships. But life is seldom fair and Ingwion needs to look forward not back. Author Reply: It is amazing how different the two cousins are at this point, isn't it, obsidainj? And their difference in maturity is even more striking when one considers Arafinwë is the younger by 750 years. Yet, his apprenticeship was, I think, more focused towards bringing him to that level of maturity that we see here, whereas Ingwion has been floundering around. But you're right that he needs to look forward and not back. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Ingwion has to grew up more - I agree, but a bit more understanding on his part would surely do him some good. Arafinwe claimes the same right for himself. It´s not an all-day-situation for them after all. I look forward to THE hunt. Thank you for another gripping chapter. Lai Author Reply: Hi Lai. Yes, Ingwion needs to grow up more, or at least not be so self-involved, which I think may be the same thing. And as another reviewer pointed out, no one seems to have taken the time to sit down and talk with him and understand what he has been feeling. Well, I think when they finally find and rescue Ingwë, Ingwion will begin to find his equilibrium again. We'll have to see. Thanks for reading and reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Maturity is needed here, and all are earning that state rather quickly. Author Reply: Definitely, Larner, but some have earned that state sooner than others. Ingwion needs to grow up a bit more but he'll get there. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Well, Atarinya, here I am at last. It's been a while since I've reviewed on this story, for which I ask your pardon...I left my explanation on Wednesday over at Wedding, so at least you know what the issue was. I am caught up, though. Oh, Ingwi, Ingwi...Older than Arafinwe he may be, but he's so much younger in certain ways. I completely understand that - I'm the elder sister, but my younger sister outshines me physically, mentally, and in so many other ways. Of course, we're not twins, there's 3 1/2 years between us, but still. If my adar was lost, I don't know what I'd do...I *have* a sword, somewhere, that he bought me at a Renaissance Faire, but I don't know what happened to it, and of course it's not much of a blade LOL. And I think, in some ways, he *is* lost...lost emotionally, spiritually perhaps, to me, lost to himself. That's why I see you as a father so much more. =) *hugs Atto* I'm looking forward to THE Hunt, although I not only have to wait for Monday, I'm not sure whether I'll be able to get the chapter in the morning. I'm supposed to go to the San Francisco Zoo with Naneth. It's my very favorite zoo...I can't remember how many times I've been, but there always seems to be something new, and the old favorites too. Like PENGUINS. =) *is all excited for the penguin feeding* Someday you should go too! Tye-melin tenn' Ambar-metta, Kaylee Arafinwiel P.S. Sorry for the off-topic-ish rambling, but, well...you know me, LOL. =) Author Reply: Hi Kaylee. Maturity usually has less to do with a particular age than it has to do with how life experiences have shaped a person and his or her outlook. Arafinwë's 'thralldom' forced him to deal with certain unpleasant truths about himself and in the process gained new insight and maturity. Ingwion hasn't had that kind of experience yet, nor has he allowed himself to integrate his recent experiences and let them reshape his outlook on life and realize that having everything handed to you on a silver platter reall does not work towards developing one's maturity. Anyway, enjoy the zoo and don't worry about the next chapter. It'll still be here when you get back. We have a zoo here where I live but I haven't been there in many years. Perhaps I should check it out and see what's new. *grin* Thanks for reading and reviewing. Tye-melin.

Well, can we start The Hunt now, Ingwion? I have to wait till Monday because of you! Seriously, I do feel bad for Ingwion, it seems that everybody expects him to act in the right way and none has prepared him for that. Even in this stressful time, none has ever sat with him and talk, really talk about how he feels. I still believe that the Valars could have handle the situation better, first, they sent him out in a non-pleasant way, then, he has to wait and finally, take weapons and learn, the last one it is against the one of principals that elves learn: kinslaying is a crime. I know that there is not room for self-pity, but why no one has at least, try to understand him? Yes, Arafinwë has grown away for his Cousin, to become an equal to the other Kings, but the price was too high, better to Ingwion to be an eternal prince than to lose his Father and most of his family in the process. Author Reply: Don't worry, Fantasia, the Hunt begins in the next chapter though they won't find Ingwë immediately. That will take another chapter, but the end of the suspense is nearing. I think you're right about no one sitting down and talking with Ingwion. Everyone, including Ingwion, has been too busy running hither and yon, and Ingwion hasn't really had time to stop and work through what he is feeling. Circumstances have forced him to bottle them up and they are coming out through his drinking bouts and all. And you are also correct at to the high price Arafinwë was forced to pay to be where he is now, but that is often true in real life as well and we can only admire him for not allowing the circumstances that propelled him into the role of Noldóran to destroy him. O.K. Now I am awake, I think? I think Arafinwe is the older brother that Ingwion needs, he has lead all his life, now he has someone to lead him. Ingwion has to some extent been wallowing in self pity, Arafinwe is the cold bucket of reality in the face that he needs. Now to pick himseld up, dust himself off and be the Throne Heir he needs to be. Sunny is right, you should always factor Murphy into the equation, otherwise he will show up with his friends Fubar and Snafu! Huggs, Lynda Author Reply: Hi Lynda. You may be correct about Arafinwë being the older brother that Ingwion needs, at least on an emotional level, since Arafinwë is actually the younger, but age really has nothing to do with maturity so much as experience and circumstances. Arafinwë will see to it that Ingwion takes his rightful place as Throne Heir, it's just not going to happen overnight. I think when they find and recue Ingwë Ingwion will start shaping up more. Arafinwë is definitely the Noldóran, so the Valarin dream therapy obviously worked! And I can certainly understand Ingwion being taken aback - Arafinwë is behaving like a leader, and the elder, when he had been an unimportant younger prince. Ingwion is definitely demonstrating why drinking too much alcohol and sleeping too little is not a good preparation for an important task! Hmmm. Oromë's version of "How to handle a sword 101" - does that include things like: - How not to stumble over the long, heavy thing now hanging from your belt. - You point the pointy end at the other guy. - bTry to look as if you know what you are doing, even when you aren't. - Murphy _will_ visit - we can only try to get him to do as little damage as possible. Author Reply: Hi Sunny. Arafinwë isn't Noldóran yet, but he is well on the way, as we will see in the next few chapters. Ingwion will have to put aside his self-pity if he wants to catch up with his cousin. And yes, Oromë's version of "Sword-handling 101" is pretty much as you describe it, including Murphy. LOL!
