| Wow. Eönwë is my favourite character ever. And I'm really fascinated. It's so beautiful, how you show this! Though I've not red all of it yet [I'm just extending a delight and take it "piecemeal" :))], but, especially, father-son relationship with Manwë is just beautiful! It's really how I always felt it. And I also very much like the idea of friendship between Eärendil and Eönwë. All of this is very touching! May I ask: had someone translated this story into Russian already? And if not, may I be so bold and ask your permission to try to? :)) Or maybe someone have translated it and I can find it somewhere? Author Reply: Thank you very much for the review! Eönwë is a wonderful character, and I really like to imagine his relationships to other Silmarillion characters, not only ManwEönwë and Eärendil, but also an occassional friendly sparring match with Finrod, or him and Olórin being mischievious together sometimes before the awaking of the Elves :) The story has not been translated into Russian, but you can do so if you want. Just link the translation back to the original either here or at FFN. | |

| Awww, great ending! :) I love how you solved things: Eonwe's selfless action gives Earendil his sight back (and is better than before :) ), and yet he can see in his "human" form. Excellent idea! I also like how these events are intertwined with the birth of Elros' son. And I am glad that Earendil will be able to see his descendants. :) Wonderful story! Author Reply: Hello! I'm glad you like the last chapter! It was really very selfless from Eonwe - he did not know he will be able to see in the "human" form! He is a true friend! And now Earendil can see again, so all the events of the 2nd and 3rd age can happen under his hawk sight. Thank you very much for reading the story and all lovely reviews! | |

| Um.....WOW. Thats all I can say to that. Wow, wow, wow...I had to read it again to get any semblance of coherency to my thoughts. For one thing, Earendil calling Eonwe reckless in the end of Hope of a Star was backwards, because Earendil is a lot more reckless than Eonwe in this story. I'm really glad that the sight was a gift in the end, because Eonwe gave up so much to give it to him....and I'm sure Eonwe flew with Earendil as often as he could. Beautiful timing of returning hope, just as Vardamir is born. One question, did Earendil know (or find out) what Eonwe had done? OK, the most beautiful, moving scene, probably of the whole fic, was where Eonwe sacrifices his sight for Earendil. I would love to go on and on about it, but I'm finding I don't have words to do it justice. WOW. Oh, and did Eonwe ever become a hawk again? Well, its been really fun to read, a wonderful take on Eonwe and Earendil, and I can't wait to see what you write next! Thank you for this wonderful story! Author Reply: Ah, thank you very much! I'm glad you liked the end of the story! To answer the question - no, Eärendil has never found out (so far, but if he does I will probably write a story about it). Eonwe didn't tell anbody about it, not even Elwing. He did not want Earendil to be his friend because of thankufllness, but because of himself - and that he was. He calls Eonwe reckless in Hope of a Star, becaude he had no choice himslef in getting caught by Ungoliant, but Eonwe came into the spider's lair willingly to save him. But I would say they are both reckless =) And after this, Eonwe was still able to become a hawk, but he was blind in that form, so he did it only in highest need. He still could orientate himself, as the Maiar have much more senses, and the sight is not as important to them as to the humans, but the absolute darkness always reminded him on Ungoliant, and that's not a pleasant memory.
