Memories left to Glorfindel and Erestor; memories from a golden past, of joys and griefs.... Lovely to see these gathered together in this way. Author Reply: Thank you! I always like collecting them up at the end of a challenge; sometimes they seem more substantial put together like this.

These were wonderful. The language is beautiful, and the economy of the drabble form seems to have heightened it. And the emotions feel real. Author Reply: Thank you so much! I always have fun writing drabbles -- since it's only a mouthful, you can be more experimental than in more extended pieces. And it doesn't always work, but after all, there's no progression without experimentation (and a little bit of failure). It's lovely to hear you enjoyed them!

I like these short wistful moments and all the more because I adore your Glorfindel. :) My favorite bit was Celebrian’s remark that Galadriel fell in love with Celeborn’s smile. (Wish he did more of it in the movie… ah well…) The great oddity of being an elf must be to converse their and their buddies’ descendants (and +)! I could very much taste the heartbreak of Gondolin’s fall in Glorfindel’s few words: “The towers – white towers and fountains – and singing under starlight – when the city was done, when we’d built our bright future, when we were safe –” Especially in the last; it’s sweetly remorseful. Author Reply: Heh, thank you! I was rereading the long Goldilocks story over Christmas, actually, and thought I could maybe use this challenge to work through some of his lingering issues -- and then I was caught by surprise when the challenge ended after only five drabbles, so maybe I'll come back to Glorfindel's Issues another time. (Or maybe I'll jump straight to something Bold and Exciting like his ride against the witch-king.) Celeborn was rather tragically short-changed by the movies. :( But I love him anyway. And I love trying to work out how the long Elven lives affect the way they think; as you say, it must be pretty odd. Imagine having great-great-great-grandmother Judging everything you do! I'm very glad you liked these, as ever. And I hope the new term's got off to a great start!
