It seems as if Ingwion is slightly insane. At least I wouldn't trust him with anything without supervision at the moment. He needs a 24/7 guard on him. I think the Maia learned their lesson. It was kind of amusing to watch Ingwe and the rest pulling their hair out trying to figure out where Ingwion went. That they didn't look in on Ingoldo sooner just shows how alien this whole situation is to them. Author Reply: I think Ingwion is more than just slightly insane, obsidianj. LOL! And of course this whole thing is alien to them all and they don't really understand what is motivating Ingwion at this point. They'll be watching him like a hawk from now on, that's for sure. Ingwion's shock is still troublesome to deal with, but at least his mother was able to get through to him and halt his intent to join the kinslayers. And they do share the same grief as the fallen guardsman, at least. Author Reply: It is indeed troublesome, Larner, and unfortunately, his erractic behavior is not going to get better anytime soon as we will see. Thanks for reading and reviewing. Atto, Sorry for neglecting to review, but I was still trying to get my head around these chapters. Ingwion's really starting to scare me, with his...I don't know what to call it. It's like he's actually gone insane. But for this chapter, this was one of my favorite parts (the other being the visit to Lemenyon's family) "Mahalmarunando." It was as if cold water had been dumped on Ingwion, for the sound of Elindis speaking his amilessë froze him and he slumped, becoming still, his eyes closed, his breathing harsh. Everyone else looked at Elindis in surprise as she stood there, her gaze imperious. "Is this how the Ingaran’s champion acts?" she asked coldly. Ingwion opened his eyes and blinked up at his ammë. "Ch-champion?" he retorted, frowning slightly. "Ingil is your champion. I remember that." He gave Elindis an accusing look. Elindis nodded. "Yes. Your brother is my champion, just as you are your atar’s." Ingwion gave Ingwë a puzzled look. "Am I your champion?" he asked meekly. Ingwë nodded, stroking his son’s hair and giving him a kiss. "Yes, yonya, you are my champion, and as my champion you must obey me, mustn’t you?" "I guess," the ellon replied with some uncertainty. "You’ve been very naughty, sneaking away and getting poor Manveru in trouble," Elindis said in a tone of voice that Ingwion recognized from when he’d been an elfling and he blushed with embarrassment, not looking at anyone. Ingwë gave Arafinwë a knowing smile and together they rose to their feet, bringing Ingwion with them so they were facing Elindis who smiled at her son, placing a hand under his chin to make him look up. "Go to your room and think on what I have said. I will ask Lord Manwë to send Manveru so you can apologize to him." Ingwion nodded, looking glum but then his expression turned sly. "Can I still kill Uncle Ingoldo?" "Not unless I say so," Ingwë replied, using his ‘High King’ voice as his children were wont to call it. "Now do as your ammë says and if you behave I will let you sit in on your uncle’s trial." Ingwion gave him a considering look, his eyes flicking towards where Ingoldo still sat on his bed glaring at him, then he looked back at his atar and nodded. "I’ll be good. I promise." "And you always keep your promises, don’t you?" Ingwë said approvingly. He motioned to Valandur who had followed behind Elindis. "Valandur, will you see Ingwion to his room, please?" "Of course," the loremaster said, taking a biddable Ingwion by an arm, steering him out, "and perhaps you can tell me just how you managed to get in here without anyone seeing you." Ingwion giggled like an elfling. "That’s my secret," he said and they could all hear the smugness in his voice and several people, Ingwë included, rolled their eyes. The High King then dismissed the guards with his thanks, and the room was soon empty of everyone save for Ingwë and the other royals. Ingwë took Elindis into his arms and kissed her soundly. "Thank you, meldanya," he said with heartfelt gratitude. "I thought perhaps your presence would calm him. He certainly wouldn’t listen to me." He gave her a rueful look. Elindis smiled. "But of course. I’m his ammë. He knows better." (I should hope he does!!! :) ) Very good, Atto, I liked this chapter a lot, even though it's been hard to read in the wake of Ingil's death. Tye-melin, Kaylee Author Reply: Hi Kaylee. Ingwion is indeed very scary here and we can see just why Ingoldo fears him. Yay for Valandur, thinking clearly even in a situation like this. He has really become one of my favourite characters. :) Author Reply: Hi Siiw. I'm glad Valandur has become one of your favorite characters. He's one of my favorite characters, too, and someday I hope to write his story. I'm curious to know how he came to marry the eldest daughter of Finwë and Indis and became Ingwë's chief loremaster and I'm sure others are equally curious. Thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate it.

now Ingwion´s sanity has departed, or? What when he remembers? Will he snap or come back to his senses? Poor ellon!I doubt that it will be wise to let him come to the trial. Serves Ingoldo right. Hope he has felt what fear is! Gripping chapter. Thank you. Lai Author Reply: Hi Lai. Ingwion is obviously not working with a full deck and no one is quite sure how to deal with the situation. There will be some judgments of error on the part of certain people concerning Ingwion in the future as we will see. Glad you found the chapter gripping. Thanks for letting me know. No, Ingwion is definitely not all there right now. And as for the search, seeing as it was so unsuccessful at first, the elves just aren't used to such extreme situations, and also unused to people who aren't sane. Seeing Ingwion crouching over his uncle like that, pressing a knife to his throat must have been horrifying - especially with his almost elfling-like behavior about killing his uncle. And it was his mother who got him - sort of - out of it. Or at least got him to behave himself. Smart of Ingwë to send for her! I suspect Ingoldo is right now rummaging through his clothes for a new pair of pants. ;-) Author Reply: You're right about that, Sunny. And we see here just why Ingoldo fears his nephew, knowing what he is truly capable of doing. And Ingwë's no fool. He knows how to get his children to behave - send them to Ammë. LOL! Oh, good, they did make it in time, I am not too fond of Ratty but slitting his throat would be too easy for him, putting him on bread and water for a yen or two might help! Ingwion, Ingwion, Ingwion what are we to do with you child? I am glad Elindis was able to bring him out of his madness and that he is an honorable ellon and will abide by his promise. Let's hope Manveru and Eunaro will be able to help him in their own unique way. I think Ingwe would have gone to see Lemenyon's family eventually, he does have a lot on his mind, what with the trial and the farewell to Ingalure to plan. Huggs, Lynda Author Reply: Hi Lynda. Yes, they made it just in time, though not in time to prevent Ingwion from putting the fear of Ingwion into Ingoldo. grin. We will see how everyone deals with Ingwion's mental state as the rest of this story continues. And Ingwë knows his duty to Lemenyon's family, but as you say, he's had a lot to deal with and no time to breathe. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

If he is reacting this way without remembering that Ingil id death, how will he react when he remember? Ingoldo trail will be a real trial to everybody. And all the royals will be present. It is interesting that all the Kings have family member lost in this darkness, for sure they will understand each other better. Author Reply: Hi Fantasia. Ingwion still believes that Ingalaurë is alive but Ingoldo has hidden him somewhere and he is trying to convince his uncle to tell him what he's done with his twin. Ingwion is definitely one frie short of a happy meal, as Jack O'Neil would say. grin And you are correct. All the Royals have lost family members, either from death or what they assume is permanent exile, so they can find comfort from each other and give one another support, which is very important for anyone suffering a loss. As for the trial.... we'll have to wait and see. It's only a few chapters away. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I quite appreciate it.
