That's certainly one way to celebrate! Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Yes, one way to celebrate, and one that feels almost properly hobbity to me!

It's unusual that hobbits have such a grim sense of humour. But taking into account the circumstances under which they acted, in the middle of War, they did what hobbits always do: make light of grave matters! (This ability helps them to survive while others fall into despair, I think.) And after all, they did have an impressive bonfire! I agree that Bucca must have been an interesting character. Author Reply: I suspect that the Hobbits who fought in Arnor's armies frequently found themselves seeking what distractions they could from the horrific situation in which they found themselves. When we realize that of all of those who left the Shire only one returned, one can appreciate how distressing they all must have found things. And this was likely the only bonfire they'd be allowed that Yule, facing the camp of the enemy so directly!

*shakes head* Only the Hobbits! It's interesting to see Hobbits as true warriors, not only defending their homes with slingshots and stones, though. Bucca must have been an interesting character. Author Reply: I've written about Bucca going out to fight for Arvedui in "Stirring Rings," so it was fun to find another reason to write about these unusual members of Arvedui's army. I have a fondness for Bucca any more.
