In Darkness Bound  by Fiondil 8 Review(s)

What an awesome (in the true sense of the word) first sight of Ithil! And I loved the symbolism tied to Ingwion.

I've been trying to wrap my mind around just how new this light is. And thinking ahead, how even more new Anar will be. Imagine all you knew is the dark only illumated with stars. Then come the trees, and I wonder just how bright the light was during the Minglings. But then sun - daylight - daybright. Just how bright will everything be? How different will everything look, the colours, the shadows, the shadings, the perspectives?

I remember reading a story a long time ago that described the rising of moon and sun from the perspective of people in Elu Thingol's court, who wouldn't even have seen the light of the Trees to have any comparison. I wish I could remember what that story was and re-read it, because apparently it left quite the impression on me for years afterwards.

"Something for the loremasters to argue over," Arafinwë said with a wicked grin. "And all the while, some elfling will call it something out of the simplicity of his or her vocabulary and everyone else will pick up on it and when the loremasters finally trot out their perfect name for the orb, it will be ignored for the child’s word."
Hehehe! Seems that loremaster won't change much in all that time from here until Aragorn complains about the same thing in the Houses of Healing...

That was a lovely way to end the chapter, with its echo to its opening.

It looks like the moon illminated more than the sky. It's great to see the fea of the eleves brighten also.

Author Reply: After the equivalent of 114 solar years of darkness, the Moon is a welcome sight to many and I think more Elves than Ingwion found their hope being restored at the sight of it. Thanks for commenting, Tari. I appreciate it.

Ingwion has done the next step on the road to healing. First was to acknowledge that he needs help and something is wrong and now, he has some hope again. That light just came at the right time for him... and for the rest of the elves as well. I think there were a lot more depressed elves who can breathe again since there is now light.

Author Reply: Hope is what they all need, not just Ingwion, and Isil is that sign of hope for them all. I'm sure that most of the Elves of Aman were in a depressive state and now they realize it's not so dark after all. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Atto,

It seems Isil has risen indeed. I'm sure Arafinwe's prediction will come true, and "Sheen" will be something an elfling comes up with rather than a loremaster, lol. I wonder just which elfling? I am glad to see it has helped to restore some of Ingwion's hope.

Author Reply: Hi Kaylee. We'll see if Arafinwë's prediction comes true or not soon enough. *grin* And the light certainly has helped Ingwion to feel hopeful again.

Thanks for reading and reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Glad for the wisdom of Ingwe. And for the respite. It's about time. Hope all goes well with Arafinwe's crowning -- Yeah right!!! Especially if Ingwion is invited!

Thanks for another great chapter. I'm glad you let your readers breathe.

Author Reply: Hi Agape. I do allow my readers to breathe whenever they wish. LOL! But you are correct that the angsty parts are pretty much over with. We'll see how Arafinwë's coronation goes. That will be the subject of the rest of the story. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Reassurance and hope returned--what has been needed is now given in tangible form. Now, to see the King returned to Tirion as has happened with the Vanyar.

Author Reply: Very true, Larner. Hope has indeed returned in tangible form. The rest of the story will deal with Arafinwe returning to Tirion to be crowned. Thanks for reading and reviewing. It's very much appreciated.

Good to see that the moonrise had such a positive effect on Ingwion! He has a really long way to go before he is healed, but he has at least started on that road now. And let us also hope that Lórien won't be too badly damaged by his and his guardians' antics. ;-)
I really love Arafinwë's guess about how the Moon will be named! and I am sure those loremasters he is thinking about will grumble and fume about how their perfect name is ignored in favor of the name from who-knows-where.
I think Arafinwë's ideas about his coronation ceremony are good ones - and will both cement the remaining Noldors' loyalty towards him, and help with their healing. And Arafinwë is definitely not going to pull a stunt like Fëanor did, when he made everybody think that he was going to swear his fealty to Ingwë, but instead swore quite another oath.

Author Reply: Hi Sunny. Yes, it looks as if Isil's light has had a positive affect on poor Ingwion, though he still has a way to go before he's oompletely healed.

As for the naming of the Moon... we'll see how that comes about in the next chapter. *grin*

And we'll be seeing Arafinwë's coronation in the chapter after next. This story, sadly, is coming to its natural end, so enjoy these last few chapters. *grin*

Thanks for reading and reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Ah, evrything that was undone is coming right again!

Very nice, a sweet, gentle chapter after all the angst we have been through lately.

Just as well Ingwion is going with Ingwe, 'cause I don't think Vanyamar would be standing if he left him there with Manveru and Erunaro to play with!

Now to launch Anar and switch the rotation, which will be some trick, I must admit.

By the way how come Arda had tides with out Ithil to cause them?

Huggs,
Lynda

Author Reply: Hi Lynda. Almost everything is coming right again. Some things will never be the same, of course, but that's the way life is, even for the Eldar and the Valar. The rest of the chapters will be angst-free as we wind up this tale.

As for the tides... there haven't been any to date.

Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.
