Love the care Sam was giving to the flowers - making sure they were all right - and love most the end - the sweet care he gives to Elrond in that touch of his hand. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Yes, the flowers of that greenhouse would have drawn Sam to their place, and how he must have loved being there, able to examine them. And as one given ever to nurturance, Elrond himself would have appealed to him at that moment, I think. Thanks so very much, Antane!

I just adore conversations between hobbits and Master Elrond, and this is a lovely one. Author Reply: I'm so glad I found myself writing this, Shirebound. I think that Elrond and Sam would have been the right ones to share this conversation.

Comfort from a hobbit. Even the greatest would treasure that. I love the flowers calling out to Sam to visit them. I love lilies but sometimes find their scent too overpowering. Author Reply: I so agree. And, of course the flowers would find some way of drawing a visit from the Shire's most noted gardener! And I certainly know what you mean about the lilies' scent--sometimes it can be too much for me, too.
