I don't think I've ever heard that one outside this story, either! Did you make it up? You're an excellent poet, so I know that isn't beyond you, lol!! Kaylee Author Reply: Yes, I made it up to fit the story, though it is of course, based on the many such "counting poems" that do exist, as well as the clapping games children of many cultures play.

In other words if you see crows/crebain don't stop to count them! Hide! Lynda Author Reply: LOL! Yep.

Love this sweet moment with two cousins and their game! I can just see it. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Childhood clapping games seem to be one of those things you never completely forget, sort of like riding a bicycle, LOL!

Oh yes, clapping games! We played many of them at school, but I can't remember the rhymes. Pippin's logic is - as always - very funny, a little confusing, but nevertheless true ;-) Author Reply: The reason his logic sometimes is funny and confusing is that he sometimes blurts out his conclusions without explaining any of the steps in between, LOL!

Then there is:- One for sorrow, two for joy, three for a girl, four for a boy, five for silver, Six for gold, seven for a secret never to be told, eight's a wish and nine's a kiss, ten is a bird you must not miss! Though that is for Magpies! Lynda Author Reply: *grin* I like that one! Thank you! I never heard it before!

I haven't played a clapping game since I went to camp in the 1960's. Thank you for bringing that memory back. :) Author Reply: For me it was grade school in that same decade. I think I can still remember how to clap for "three, six, nine, the goose drank wine, the monkey chewed tobacco on the street-car line", though I doubt I'm still coordinated enough to keep it going, LOL! But that one did not seem terribly hobbity!
