| Finally reading this here and still enjoying it so very much! A wonderful expansion on that scene, and a wonderful look at how Aragorn found himself having to fight the power of the Ring from the very beginning. | The story came out very nicely, Linda! You bring out Aragorn's weariness, both physical and emotional, and the frustration at being constantly put off and dismissed by those whose lives he and his Dunedain are protecting with their own. And now he's got to deal with a too-chatty hobbit who happens to be carrying Isildur's Bane...And the emotional shifts that Aragorn goes through are well-written and believable. | That's a most plausible and perceptive take on how Aragorn must have felt and what he must have thought when first meeting the hobbits at the Prancing Pony. It deserved the first place it got. | Here was I, the last heir of the great house of Elendil forced to live alone and friendless like a beggar in the wild, never thanked and never trusted, begging for the right to escort a gaggle of foolish suspicious Hobbits! Very good! And since all of Aragorn's arguments against the hobbits are very reasonable (at least from his point of view), they intensify the moment when he realises that even his mind was twisted by the Ring! | Very well done.... I love first person stories and it's fascinating to see this scene through Aragorn's eyes and voice. I like the mention of Sarn Ford--we don't know exactly when Aragorn heard of that attack but it works that he might have heard about it before meeting with the Hobbits in Bree, and whenever he heard it, it would have caused him incredible grief, I'm sure. And that he attributes his growing anger with the Hobbits to the Ring's influence is also a nice touch. Very deserving of its Teitho win! Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.
