And thus becomes Its victim. Poor man--had no idea as yet how quickly It took him. Author Reply: Hello Larner, it must have taken him almost instantly, methinks. Poor Isildur ... M ;)

I don't think Isildur was a wuss - he fell quickly because the Ring was so powerful at that moment, almost as much as it would be for Frodo when he was at the Fire himself. I think that was a major factor in it all, but so is graces given and cooperated with, such as Frodo was given to withstand it just long enough to fulfill his vocation. Namarie, God bless, Your berry :) Author Reply: Hello berry, mayhap you have a point. But I still think he was a wuss. I'm just bad like that ... *evil grin* Your evil cousin Mo x

And thus he falls. If he had not what would have happened to the Ring? Who would have borne it? Hmmm... It was a good thing and an evil thing that he took it, all meant to be or allowed to happen for the greater good. Namarie, God bless, Your wondering bloom :) Author Reply: Hello curious bloom, thanks very much for reviewing this drabble. It seemed to have been going down like a lead balloon up until you did (heck, on ff dot net, where I've also posted, not one single review had been left for any of these three drabbles so far). Methinks people associate the term 'Ringbearer' primarily with Frodo/Bilbo/Gollum and reading drabbles about Sauron, Isildur and Déagol are maybe throwing them a little. Oh, well. You win some, you lose some. Back to Isildur - who indeed does know what would have happened to the RIng had he not fallen. Perhaps he would have found the strength to destroy it ... I've always thought he was a bit of a wuss, actually. I know the Ring is all powerful, etc, etc. and that Men are especially prone to its influence but honestly! Boromir managed to withstand its influence for months before he succumbed to temptation. True, he never held it, but he was in constant proximity to it for ages, and its call must've been driving him bonkers. Isildur barely glanced at it before he was hooked, and look at all the trouble his weakness caused ... Anyway, enough of that! Thanks for cheering me up with this review, m'dear, Cousin Mo x
