Alas that the child will abide here so long, and when his father, and the King of the Noldor in exile leave to face the Enemy, neither will return again, much less his grandfather. Author Reply: A bleak future, indeed, and bless the child that he was at the time ignorant of it. He could yet be a child for some time, despite not being able to ferret stories of Gondolin from a certain someone. :) I tried to show that not everything was gloomy at that timThanks for the thoughtful review, Larner.
