A final symbol of Rohan's defiance And that she was! The last soldier defending their King against the Nazgul. And she did what no man could have done. Her deed (and Merry's) was unique and outstanding. No one will ever forget that! Author Reply: Hello Andrea, too right! Éowyn and Merry both proved a force to be reckoned with, and more than up to the task that no man could ever have achieved (though methinks a dwarf or elf could have, if it had occurred to them to give it a try). Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)

I liked this very much. Poor Eowyn, I'm glad we know her destiny was far more than that she dreaded. Author Reply: Hello Linda, I am really pleased you of all people like this, because I know how much you like Éowyn (& Co.)! Thankfully her fate was far brighter and better than she could have ever hoped for in those dark and dreary days. She attained both glory and love (though love was much better than glory, in the end). Thanks for R & R-ing, I really appreciate it! M ;)

Poor Eowyn, born a warrior but in a woman's body. I think of the scene in the movie when she rejects Wormtongue and rushes out only to be able to go a few feet outside, trapped at home. Still there was a reason she was given a warrior's spirit and a woman's body. She will do what no man could do. How sad is that ending. Namarie, God bless, Your bloom :) Author Reply: Hello bloom! ah, but she got to prove herself in battle after all - and thankfully lived to realise that there was more to life than glory (and death) in battle. So don't be too sad, cousin dear! Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)

An interesting look into Eowyn's mind. It is rather fascinating the contrast between the outdated view of war, and the oddly modern feminist mindset of Eowyn at this point in her life. Author Reply: Hello Armariel, Éowyn really was a woman born before her time. Still, at least she got her wish in the end: to fight. And thank goodness she survived the bloodshed and got her reward. Faramir ... Lucky woman. Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)
