So that's why Sam was there at that particular time...the changing of the guard. Too much for her, but not too much for him. Bravo for both of them. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: That explains it. Like Gandalf, she knows her limitations. But she has planted the right stuff in them both, unknown to either, perhaps. Ooh, dear--quite the passing of the guard here. And it sounds more movie- than book-verse. But Sam was right to think that there might be something special going on at Bag End once Mr. Frodo came to live there. Author Reply: Sometimes the lesser must do what the greater cannot. But Sam is most certainly up to the task. Thanks for commenting Larner! ~~~~~{~@

I am afraid I didn't get this completely, though I have beena regular reader of this series. In particular, exactly when did this happen? When Gandalf visited the Shire and told Frodo about the ring? Was it when Sam 'eavesdroped', and was found out by Gandalf? Or some other time? If what I guessed it true, then a tantalizing question? Do you think Gandalf sensed the presense of a fellow Maia? That is, if you imagine fairies to be maiar. Good effort! Author Reply: Thanks Praveen.....yes, it's when Sam eavesdropped. And I'm thinking that not only was Gandalf aware of her, he especially asked her to keep an eye on Frodo when he was gone...and have been contemplating a scene in which he does just that, and yes, I've been considering Fairies are an order of maiar also. And like Gandalf she's now finding the call of the Ring to be too much for her to resist, and knows she must bow out and let Sam take over. Thanks again for commenting, I much appreciate your feedback! ~~~~~{~@
