Ah I wish I could leave a longer review but work beckons me. A very tense filled chapter. I am glad Erutinin did not die, but it was such an irony that he was defeated the same way Cothion was defeated. Speaks to Rhinure's state of mind at the time of her own trial, and we know Istion did not perhaps do this for the purest of Avari motives. Hmm, wonder if the same can be claimed of Rhinure. Author Reply: I didn't realise that any of the Avari motives were "pure". The poor things really don't understand themselves very well. Or maybe they work on the plausible deniability principle - if they never accept anything, no matter how obvious, they can always deny it ever happened.

Oh my, this was an excellent chapter... You describe the interactions of the Avari amongst themselves in such an excellent way! Both with description and with dialogue--the latter of which is decidedly the harder bit to do well, though you seem to have mastered it just fine! :-) --you give these people dimension and life. I love reading about them, and am coming more and more to care about what happens to them. I do, however, worry constantly over Legolas and what may happen to his heart in all this... I've even started having bizarre dreams about it. :-) Stories do sometimes affect me this way... I hope there will be more soon! (Don't you love readers who whine for updates, then the moment you give them one, they want more? Thanks for an excellent chapter! Author Reply: Don't worry - I dream about them too - a lot. Though mine are a little more 'plesant' since I am working a few chapters ahead - round about when Rhinure get back to Legolas. Yes - a lot more 'pleasant'.

The tension and high emotion of this chapter was great. The motivations of each player show how clearly emotions do rule the Avari - and one has to wonder the price each of them pays for hiding it. You have put much thought into this Avari culture, and you are sharing it wonderfully. Author Reply: Wait for it - if you think this was bad wait until you see what I have planned. Wait you probably know - thanks for the all the help with Chap 50.

This was really a scary chapter. I was afraid that one of the combatants was going to kill the other and I did not want either one to die. The Avari are an incredibly fierce people and they think they don't let emotions affect them! Author Reply: I must say when I wrote this - I was thinking of the Roman gladiators and their salute - "We who are about to die salute you" version. I thought it was such an Avari line - but a little too Hollywood but it helped set the tone in my mind.

That was a very good chapter...but I cannot help but wish that Erutunin had won. Of course, he did make the best choice, but I have the impression that Istion will cause trouble somehow. I hope I am wrong ;) It is amazing how manage to include us in the Avari universe. You still have some chapter centered on the Avari left, haven't you? And a bit of Erutunin too, no? Continue to write! You're doing a marvelous job! Author Reply: I wish Erutunin had won too but I decided against it. I would have had to seperate him from his family and even I was not soo cruel. As for Istion - he is Avari - OF COURSE he will cause trouble. Though it may be of the good variety. There are many more Avari centric chapters left - but only a few more specifically before Rhinure gets back.
