What a sweet memory, Dreamflower! I wonder what exactly brought it to the fore? Author Reply: I think it has to do with Adamanta's similarities to his own mother-- it's bringing her to the forefront of his mind.

It was a pleasant and warm feeling to realise that, yes, he had accomplished something worthwhile Maybe this realisation happened at that very moment, because it was not a Wizard or a Man or an Elf, but a hobbit who praised his deeds. And it was not just some hobbit, but his ancestress who reminded him very much of his mother (and Aunt Dora)! P.S.: The title is perfect :-) Author Reply: Maybe this realisation happened at that very moment, because it was not a Wizard or a Man or an Elf, but a hobbit who praised his deeds. Yay!! More Ancestress!! Frodo's memory was sweet and understated--easy to forget, which is probably why he hadn't thought of it all this while. The "he felt embarrassed but not that sort of way" felt a little ham-handed (and whence this new realization, anyhow? I don't recall a time jump in the story... is it just his realizing everyone's place in everything, Providence, etc.?), but it's still good to know he's feeling better. Author Reply: The realization is new, and basically happening then, as he responds to Adamanta's mothering of him-- which is what brought up that memory. Sometimes it's hard to convey everything that I want to in the 300 word constraints. There are chapters that seem to fall naturally into that word range, and others that I have to cut and cut and cut. Sometimes nuances are lost.

How lovely that he is beginning to regain his sense of self-worth and accept the truth of the great things he did instead of focusing solely on the one moment his will failed. And what a treat that he remembered that bit of his childhood. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Adamanta is reminding him of his mother, and he has responded to her.

What a lovely memory to have surface there, and to see proper pride for what HAS been accomplished, whether deliberately or unwittingly, returning to him at last! An excellent title for it, too. Author Reply: He is beginning to respond to Adamanta's motherliness, which brings out his own memories.
