Oh I thought I'd read this a week ago! Then suddenly, tonight I realized I had only started to and got interrupted. Very nice piece, quite sweet. The voices sound just about right to me. Lovely work!

Oh, but I do hope he's watching indeed until they can all be together again! Wonderful, GW! Thank you for a beautiful birthday story!

Author Reply: I'm am very glad that you enjoyed this one. It was last minute and so I wasn't certain how it would be received. Thank you for reviewing!

So I woke up way too early and was lying in bed and thinking I hadn't heard anything about the Equinox this week. It seemed like I must have missed the Equinox somehow, so I was sleepily trying to figure out what day it was (I'm retired, so this can be difficult at times). The 22nd: isn't that some date I should know? September the 22nd: what is that? Well, I finally woke up enough to remember it was the Birthday.

And I was hoping there would be fanfics. Thank you.

“I checked on it earlier,” Pippin said. “It’s still there." -- Oh, I am having mental pictures of Freddy B., left all alone in the house, deciding he was too nervous to tidy up Pip's vandalism. And the Ringwraiths, of course, had terrible eyesight, which explains why didn't blast it like they did the front door lock.

Frodo's message to Pip was perfect.

Author Reply: I'm very glad you enjoyed this one. I wrote it very last-minute because the birthday sneaked up on my too. LOL
I am not retired but I work very odd hours and my weekend isn't the traditional one so I never know what day it is. It was luck that I stumbled upon it in the wee small hours of the morning yesterday and wrote this.

Hope you had a lovely day and thank you for the review!

What a wonderful story, G.W.!

I can very well imagine Pippin carving the names into the wood - and Frodo, smiling, carving his comment some time later.

Thank you very much - and remember me on April 3rd :-)

Author Reply: I'm glad you enjoyed it. I always like putting Frodo into stories even after he has left the Shire. For a long time I only wrote pre-Quest because I found it too sad to consider Frodo being gone. Then I started trying to put little nods to Frodo in post-Quest fictions. I am glad you enjoyed his carving reply to Pip.

I will be happy to drink your health on April 3rd! I will mark that date down and do it. : )

Thank you for reading!

I love what Pip did and I love most the little postscript Frodo left. Indeed those so united by heart and soul ever watch over each other.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Thank you for this lovely review. I like to believe that they were still bound to one another even after Frodo left. We know that Sam would be able to think about meeting Frodo again, but it would have been far more uncertain for Merry and Pippin which does make me sad.

Thank you so much for reading.

Awwww, that's great!

I always love Love LOVE your hobbit dialogue! It is SO natural and easy... sounds just right and just like them. What a comfortable little get-together they had, just the 3 of them.

Sure would love to have had some of that feast though, and some of the cake!

And I loved the little touch at the end. Watch over them always, Mr. Frodo.

Author Reply: Thank you! I really appreciate that you took the time to review.

My hobbits talk a bit too much sometimes. LOL I am glad you liked the dialogue.

I made myself hungry writing this and I am not much of a cook so it was almost painful. hehehe

I didn't used to write post-Quest because I hated that Frodo was gone. Now, when I write it, I try to slip him in there somewhere in a sort of happy way. Good to know that you liked that little bit too.

Take care and don't be a stranger!

Well at least this time the prologue wasn't longer than the story!

Pippen has always been a very deep soul hasn't he and Frodo always knows what is happening!

December 4th.

Huggs,
Lynda

Author Reply: The best thing about my prologues is, you can always skip them. They never say anything informative. Lots of people put important plot elements into their prologues, but I just ramble on for no reason. hehehe

I do think that Frodo was far more clever and observant than most and so he noticed more of what was happening than others did. I think it was part of what made him so special to everyone.

I will be happy to drink your health on December the fourth. Cheers!

Thank you for reading and reviewing.

Awwww....*sniffle*sigh*smile* Happy Bilbo and Frodo's Birthday to you, too!

Author Reply: Thank you. But please don't cry. I like a happy Dreamflower.

Oh no. :'( I want Frodo to be there too with them. This is lovingly written but also sad. *hugs*

Author Reply: I always want Frodo there too. I think that is why I try to put a little something from him into my post-Quest stories. I hate it when he's not there. Thank you so much for reading. (((((HUGS)))))

To the very good health and continued long life of Mr. Bilbo Baggins and Mr. Frodo Baggins of the Shire! May they celebrate many more special birthdays together and may we all be around to drink their health until we can all be together again!

What a delightful, simple toast. I feel the same way when I think of all my friends.

Oh, the carving! Such a delightful, loving story, my friend. What a perfect Birthday celebration.

Author Reply: Thank you so much for reviewing. I hadn't posted to Stories of Arda in a while and so I didn't know how it would go over. It's nice to know that someone is still reading. : )

I thought Sam would keep things simple and speak from the heart and that's what I was trying for with the toast. I'm glad it worked.

As to the carving, I liked having a bit of Frodo left in the Shire for his companions to find and enjoy on his birthday. It's always so hard to write post-Quest after Frodo leaves. Thats why I love it when you write AU and somehow he is still with his friends or they all go with him. : )
