Hahaha! I certainly guessed one of them! I'm glad I'm coming to this now that I'm a bit older and no longer need ideas put forth in fanfic as a crutch to face oncoming adulthood and responsibilities I didn't feel ready for, because I loved 'the hobbit pile!' ;) Of course that would be hard to get used to! I'd dislike it a lot at first. What were the others? Author Reply: I still love the hobbit pile. It's a part of my own headcanon as well as a cherished fanon. But it IS fanon, and so it can be "busted". The others: -Brown-eyed hobbits (since fanon favors the eye-colors of movie-verse for the most part) -The little wart and the white lock are from one of the rejected manuscripts for FotR, found in "Return of the Shadow" in HoMe. (since the fanon is that Frodo has a perfect complexion and is exceptionally good-looking) -Aragorn taking pains to wash up and looking forward to a bath (since there's a fanon that he's always scruffy and unkempt and likes it that way) So yes, I did bust a few. But I still like some fanons, so I consider this little ficlet "AU", LOL!

That is indeed standing a beloved thing on its head - hobbits not liking the pile. Dear me, what's next, not liking mushrooms? :) And it's not just fanon since nights spend in Mordor were spent the same way. Poor Aragorn. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Aha! I love the number of fanons being busted here! And I do like the idea of Strider liking to be clean and cleanly shaved when possible, too. Delightful!

LOLOLOL! No grubby rangers here, for starters (and believable, somehow, considering he was raised among Elves, and unless it's fanon, they're fairly familiar with soap and water, are they not? ...although I'm most familiar with baths as associated with hobbits, so I might be taking a stab in the dark. And away with the so-familiar pile of sleeping hobbits, which I have both used and avoided, depending on what sort of story I was writing... (very common in the parodies, certainly, but I don't remember if I've used it in more serious stories) Thank you for the chuckle! Indeed, hobbits can be a great deal of trouble, but they have their redeeming qualities as well.

Poor Strider having to herd this lot to Rivendell! Of course their eyes are brown, it is only movie Frodo and Pippen who have differant coloured eyes! No Hobbit Piles for these four it seems, they will learn, oh yes, they will learn, young Padawan, oops, sorry, wrong movie! Ooo, dry shaving, not good, no fun, hot bath and soap is a very good thing, he does clean up well when given the opportunity! Huggs, Lynda
