The beginning was so peaceful and suddenly the attack happened. It was amazing. I always wondered why scouts didn't warn Dior's people before the attack. Brilliantly described the suspense, confusion and fear. Love your idea of fight between Thranduil and Caranthir. I find interesting that Sindar's weapon was much worse than Noldor.

I went to your blog and read it. Somehow I had forgotten about it. I wanted to leave a post but did not have the required accounts to do so. This is hardly the place to leave a long missive that does not pertain to your stories, but I just wanted to tell you that you are in my prayers. Author Reply: Thanks. :) Prayers have been getting us through everything, believe me.

Even though I knew this story and how it ends, you did a wonderful job keeping the tension up. I couldn't guess what would happen next. Great characterization of Thranduil, and your OC's. I'm looking forward to more! Author Reply: Thanks for reading! I'll try not to delay the next chapter too long. :)

I can only agree with the former review. I´m so glad you are back. I loved you stories "we were young once" so much and hope you will one time finish this amazing work. You new story is no less thrilling. It has gripped me from the first lines. I like your Thranduil very much. Can´t wait for the next chapter. Thank you. Lai Author Reply: Thanks! Keep an eye out; I want to try writing Thranduil's version of "The Hobbit" before the movie. ;)

Oh my! It is so good to see you back with another amazing story. I must ask, how have you been? I have hoped often for your return and especially for a continuation of 'We Were Young Once' but just knowing that you are writing again is enough. I saw this the day you posted but with my own yuletide happenings I did not have the time until tonight to sit and read. I am still trying to absorb it all. I remember these events hinted at in the opening chapters of 'We Were Young Once'. You have captured the horror of it almost too well. To go from hopeful celebration to murderous chaos in so short a time was breathtaking. Superbly written, as always. Your descriptions of Thranduil's fear and his bravery in spite of it were palpable. May I say too, that it was a pity that Thranduil had to end Caranthir's life, yet better than the other way around. I am already anxious for the next chapter. Welcome back. I hope the coming year is filled with inspiration. Author Reply: Thanks! It's good to be back. I'm doing just fine now, but I have to say 2010-2011 was quite a whirlwind. I got married, was whisked across the country by the navy, and unfortunately lost our first two children. Life seems to have stabilized now, and I'm glad to be writing again. There's a link to my blog here on SoA, if you're interested. Thanks for reading! :)
