Very well done! It is very interesting to see the different reactions of Pippin's relatives. His sisters are overwhelmed (or even sad?) the he matured so quickly. His mother treats him as if he was much younger and refuses to believe whatever he or Merry tell her. It is as if she stopped the time when they left and just started it again. And Paladin? I think if Eglantine wasn't there he would believe his son more readily. However, Pippin's presents pleased them all and hopefully they spent a nice Yuletide afterwards!

I'm glad things are improving with Pippin and his family and also they didn't let on too much about Frodo who wouldn't want things to be talked about. I'm glad they realize the truth, or are beginning to, about Pippin though. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: I'm so glad you appreciated this so, Antane. No, I doubt Frodo wanted to be talked about, but I, too, am glad they are beginning to open up about Pippin, realizing he is not to be treated as irresponsible any more.

It's certainly hard for people to realize that the person they love isn't the same person they were before, not after something traumatic has happened to them. Poor Pippin tries hard to be civil but it does seem as if one's family is the most critical of you. Thank God for friends! You can usually rely on them more than your family at times. Glad though that at the end there was some kind of truce between them. Author Reply: My own family had its up and downs, and all of us had difficulties with our grandmother, who wanted us to be her living Barbie dolls, ready for her to dress and do our hair and imagine the lives we OUGHT to live with. It was difficult to get through to her that we were our own people with our own perceptions, goals, and aspirations. When we did manage to get her to see us as individuals in our own rights, which did happen on occasion, it was always a relief. Yes, thank God for friends, whom we choose for ourselves, usually.
