| Oh, this is so wonderful! I never thought of this event this way, but now that you wrote it - yes, it makes perfect sense that the songs of the elves served as protection from the nazgul. And it also makes a lot of sense that hobbit-song helps in protection, too; after all, they are the ones who are really connected to that land. Beautifully written. Author Reply: Thank you. | Oh how perfect this is! I always thought that Gildor was not nearly so aloof as he appeared to be. I love the way the Elves use song and starlight to keep the Ringwraiths at bay. I love the fact that they were alerted to the trouble by that random fox! *grin* and I adore Pippin waking during the singing and knowing right off that there's a problem. And the song was beautiful!
